Creative Library is a fabric mod that replaces the hotbar tab with a customizable library tab where you can store all of your custom items. To edit the contents of the tab, click the edit button ( the button with a backpack on it). The slots in the edit screen don't take items, they copy it, this is to not freak out servers. The icon was made by the wonderful Floofy Neko [TW: NSFW].
Coming Up
- Ability to have the library tab alongside the hotbar tab
- Multiple library tabs
Forge?
I do not have any plans to port this to Forge, however the license is MIT, therefore if anyone wants to port it, they are free to do so.

Welp kingbdogs said on twitter that they are looking onto making possible to do custom creative tabs in the future with probably datapacks
hi!! when mod can be update to 1.19.2?
This mod is sooo usefull ! Ive already saved something like 8 double chests of items in the Library
Ive also noticed a bug where if you press the "Survival Inventory" Button then the "Search" one , everything in the search will be invisible , making it unusable until the inventory is closed and reopened
Also maybe a "Search" Option in the LIbrary would be usefull (or maybe the vanilla search is compatible with the custom library)
I also have a question : where is the LIbrary stored in the .minecraft , it could be usefull to share libraries like people do with their "hotbar.nbt" (maybe it could be a file like "library.nbt" or something if its not already a feature)
In reply to Ender_Temmie:
Well currently Minenash is doing school, so there won't be updates for quite a while
As for finding the .nbt file for Creative Library, you'll find it in C:\Users\(Your Username)\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\config\creative_library
Although I have no idea where you can find it on an iMac if that's what you use
In reply to FloofyNeko69:
I have some free time next week I can work on it. I don't think porting will be hard. Probably won't do the search just yet, but that would be a cool feature to add in the future
In reply to Minenash:
I just remembered that shift-clicking an item into a library while editing it crashes the game
In reply to FloofyNeko69:
Thank you , I found my Library !
1.19 soon? hopefully i use this alot for building and other stuff so i dont have to use commands repeatedly
In reply to redefault:
I'm a bit busy with school atm, but hopefully I'll be able to update it soon
In reply to Minenash:
alright please let me know if you release a 1.19
any plans for dark mode gui?
In reply to redefault:
just made something for that: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/darkmode-mod-support-fabric
1.17?
How does this work? does it allow you to save items to the vanilla Saved Hotbars tab while in survival?
In reply to c5gh:
No, it's a creative only feature, and currently replaces the saved hotbars tab with a more expansive library tab, so instead of strictly 81 slots, it continues to grow the more items you put in
In reply to MapleGamer648:
Oh, okay.
This mod is incredibly useful. Having infinite space is amazing, and this is much easier to use than vanilla toolbars. Can't wait for the next update where we get multiple tabs, would be amazing for item sorting.
So this is clientside and can work as a replacement for saved hotbars?
Also, why are the boots missing on edit screen 😄
In reply to robotkoer:
Yeah, fully client side, you still can use saved hotbars, but you don't have access to the tab. In the next update where you will have the ability to add multiple library tabs, there will also be an option to re-enable the hotbar tab.
As for the boots, because i couldn't find a spot for a fourth slot that didn't look bad
In reply to Minenash:
You can replace offhand slot with the boots slot. The player can press F while hovering the item in the inventory screen and it will go to the offhand.
