Create: Tailwind

Create: Tailwind adds compact jetpacks and boosters that run on compressed air. Worn on their own they fly like a jetpack. Worn together with an elytra they act as a booster instead, pushing your glide forward.

The jetpack

Crafted from a copper backtank, two iron sheets, two brass sheets and two propellers. Wear it in the chest slot, or in a back slot from Curios or Accessories, and fly the way creative mode does by double-tapping jump. Flight stays at the normal flying speed, draws air from the jetpack, and cuts out when the air runs dry.

Compressed air

The jetpack holds air like Create's backtank and charges the same way: set it down, turn the shaft input on top, and pick it back up with an empty hand. It keeps its air, enchantments and name through placing and breaking, takes the Capacity enchantment, and supplies Create's diving helmet and air-powered tools from any of its slots.

Elytra boost

Wear an elytra as well and the jetpack stops granting flight. Instead, holding forward while gliding pushes you the way you are looking, up to a top speed, drawing air as it goes. Either one can be in the chest slot while the other is in a slot, or both can be in slots: the elytra goes in a Curios back slot with Elytra Slot, which gets a second back slot so both fit, or in the Accessories cape slot with Accessories Compat: Vanilla. The boost works with or without Do Another Barrel Roll, and takes its default acceleration and top speed from Do a Barrel Roll's thrusting.

Exhaust

A glowing jet of white air under each nozzle that grows with speed, amber sparks, a short smoke trail, and an engine sound made of a rush of air, Create's cogwheel rumble and a steam hiss as the tank vents.

Configuration

Each player can turn the flame, sparks, smoke and engine sound off, thin out the trail and set the engine volume. The server sets the air cost, whether fall damage applies, whether flying removes Invisibility, and the boost's acceleration and top speed. The config screen needs Yet Another Config Lib; without it the config files can be edited by hand.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.250 or newer, and Create 6.0.10 or newer in the 6.0 line. Needed on both the client and the server. Optional: Curios or Accessories for back slots, Elytra Slot or Accessories Compat: Vanilla to wear an elytra in a slot, and YACL for the config screen.

License

The code is GPL-3.0-only and the assets are All Rights Reserved. Modpacks may include the mod by reference, the way a CurseForge manifest or a Modrinth index does, so the launcher fetches it from an official page. Re-hosting, bundling, or altering the jar is not permitted. Contains code adapted from Create: Backtank is Jetpack, used under the MIT License, and from Do a Barrel Roll, used under the GPL.
