What is this?

Create: Subterranean Geodes transforms deep underground mining into a heavy industrial operation. Build Sonic Bores to fracture massive sections of rock, use seismic equipment to detect hidden hazards, and extract valuable resources through hydraulic fracturing. But the deeper you go, the more dangerous things become: unstable ceilings can collapse, and methane pockets can turn a productive mining tunnel into an explosive disaster.

Features

Sonic BoreA heavy-duty sonic drilling machine designed for deep underground extraction.

• Requires 64+ RPM to operate.
• Breaks rock using sonic waves in a cone-shaped area.
• Maximum drilling area: 5 blocks wide and 16 blocks deep.
• Stone is converted into Gravel.
• Occasionally produces Crushed Geode Shards.
• Below Y=0, drilling can release underground methane pockets.

Cave-Ins and Structural Instability

Deep drilling can destabilize surrounding rock.

• Above 60% instability, ceilings begin creaking and may release falling debris.
• Above 75% instability, collapses can occur around the drill, including behind it.
• Compacted Rubble falls and damages anything caught underneath.
• Compacted Rubble is extremely dense and can only be removed using a Pickaxe, Mechanical Drill, or explosives.

Plan your mining infrastructure carefully before starting a large drilling operation.

Seismic Sensor

• Automatically listens to the rock around the nearest Sonic Bore.
• Detects nearby fluid pockets, methane deposits, and structural instability.
• Its indicator light changes from amber to red as danger increases.
• Provides redstone output for automated warning and control systems.

Seismic Graphing TableA dedicated surveying workstation.

• Displays live seismic graphs.
• Shows danger vectors and environmental warnings.
• Monitors all Seismic Sensors within 24 blocks.
• Provides a centralized view of underground drilling conditions.

Methane Shale and Volatile Methane

Deep underground shale formations contain trapped methane.

• Breaking Methane Shale releases a cloud of flammable gas.
• Volatile Methane can accumulate in mining tunnels.
• Gas pockets create additional hazards around active drilling operations.

Pneumatic Exhaust Fan

Keep your mining tunnels ventilated.

• Pulls fresh air through a 3×3 tunnel area.
• Captures methane into its internal tank.
• Ventilation range increases with rotational speed.
• Captured methane can be extracted through pipes connected to its sides.

Methane Canister

• Stores compressed methane.
• Provides powerful furnace fuel.
• Returns an empty canister after use.

Hydraulic Fracturing Pump

Extract underground resources using high-pressure fluid injection.

• Requires 32+ RPM.
• Injects Fracturing Fluid into a prepared well.
• Each shockwave fractures Raw Geode Matrix located 8 or more blocks below.
• Draws Ore Slurry back into its tank for collection.

Raw Geode Matrix

A deep deepslate formation containing valuable geodes.

• Can be fractured using the Hydraulic Fracturing Pump.
• Can also be broken using the Sonic Bore.
• Produces Crushed Geode Shards.
• Processing Crushed Geode Shards by crushing or grinding yields Amethyst, Quartz, and occasionally additional gemstones.

The mod includes three configuration categories:

• Client: visual and interface settings.
• Common: general gameplay mechanics.
• Server: mining hazards and world behavior.

Server configuration includes settings for:

• Cave-in probability.
• Collapse damage.
• Falling debris speed.
• Methane cloud size.

Compatibility

Subterranean Geodes can be played independently or combined with the other addons in the series.

• Create: Refraction & Optics: focused laser beams can detonate methane, making optical machinery a potential mining hazard.
• Create: Kinetic Metallurgy & Alloy Casting: its Magnetic Induction Crucible can melt Crushed Geode Shards, while the Sonic Drill Head has an alternative recipe using the Sonic Bore.
• Create: Bio-Chemical Genetics & Fermentation: its Mechanical Centrifuge can separate Ore Slurry into valuable nuggets.

These integrations provide additional processing routes without requiring the other addons.
