What's new
AFN 1.7.0 Changelog
Theme: Pulse-written machine configuration
AFN is no longer just a signal pipe: received channel content can now be written into Create and add-on machine configuration. Enable Auto Output on a mailbox and incoming text is applied to the attached block as machine config; hidden channel terminals get the same write capability by default.
New
Machine configuration writing (33 supported devices)
Supports rotation speed controller, creative motor, brass funnel, package frogport, white postbox, weighted ejector, mechanical/windmill bearings, sticky piston, cart assembler, mechanical roller, clockwork bearing, valve handle, steam engine, mechanical arm, burner, portable engine, steering wheel, torsion spring, propeller bearings, gimbal/optical/velocity sensors, redstone accumulator/inductor, swivel bearing, nameplate, and more (Create + Aeronautics/Simulated/Offroad add-ons).
Syntax: fields marked as “bare-value” accept a plain value (12, at_most, clockwise); everything else uses full JSON ({"amount": 16, "mode": "exact"}). Decimals truncate toward zero, enums accept ordinals (0/1/2), multiple fields can be written in one pass.
Writes only fire on new channel content or strength-change pulses. Devices without an adapter are skipped silently; rejected writes surface as a short red line at the bottom of the GUI.
Dynamic Filter (new item)
Keeps the attribute-filter look, adds two frequency slots so rules can be rewritten remotely by channel pulses.
Rules accept item names/IDs, {item1, item2} sets, #tags, attribute entries and name entries, with allow/deny and any/all modes, in shorthand or full JSON.
Once installed in a device it receives rules and updates filtering automatically.
Unified Help Manual
Tabs: Frequency, Output Syntax, Output Devices, Mailbox Input, Dynamic Filter. Search across entries, device names and functions with auto-jump, scrolling and keyboard shortcuts.
The Output Devices tab prioritizes the fields accepted by the currently attached block.
Full bridge colour configuration
Screen colours are now configured per element instead of derived from three base colours: outer/inner border, screen background, title/value/muted text, active/inactive, switches, graphs, map target/path/self, control text, etc. — all independently colourable, with one-click reset. Legacy palettes remain the default base for old worlds.
Map appearance adds 2D entity heads: player skins, mob faces, and a dedicated Sable symbol; map target, path and self arrow each have their own colour.
Improvements
- Mailbox first row now has a single tri-state switch: Off / Auto Input / Auto Output (auto output is the machine-config write). Cancel/confirm moved into that row; the row no longer scrolls.
- Minimal prompts: only errors show a short red status line; nothing is reserved by default.
- Bridge dialogue mode: reply buttons use a compact bottom-aligned layout that grows upward only when crowded; the clear-chat button moved lower.
- Pager: smaller, left-shifted top buttons aligned with the channel name; phrase editor reduced to 420×240; avatar picker supports search and scrolling.
- Portable map terminal: coordinates now display integer block positions (fixes the 0.5 offset); distance/coordinate rows lay out dynamically with their toggles.
Fixes
- Fixed crashes when leaving and re-entering a world with hidden channel terminals on Sable physical structures (load-time block writes are now deferred to the next tick).
- Fixed the missing configuration modal on some GUI scales/open timings (self-healing modal geometry).
- Fixed duplicated help headings, search box resizing by result count, and code-chip spacing.
Compatibility & Upgrade
- Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge 21.1.x · Create 6.0.10+; optional Sable 2.0.3+ (2.0.6 verified).
- Existing worlds upgrade in place; legacy bridge palettes become the default base colours, no manual migration needed.
- Restart the client after updating, and verify each write target in-game (direction, amounts, modes).
