What's new

Corpsebound beta-0.2.2

For Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.20 or newer within 47.x.

Added

  • Configurable corpse-looting controls: right-click, Shift + right-click, or a custom keybind. Looting requires both hands to be empty, preventing conflicts with bows, shields and held weapons. The custom key starts unassigned under Minecraft Controls. Carrying remains Ctrl + right-click; shovel burial retains its existing control.
  • An in-game Config screen with categories, descriptions, Save/Reset/Cancel controls, and English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese translations.
  • Player-only corpse spawning, an entity blacklist, and separate configurable player/NPC corpse lifetimes. Lifetime limits are disabled by default. Ice and Fire dragons use their own corpse and resource-harvesting system by default.
  • Hopper and hopper-minecart collection of corpse inventories and charred remains. Normal, non-burning corpses can be cleared after 10 seconds at an enabled intake, releasing remaining loot. Player-corpse automation requires a separate opt-in setting.
  • Corpse burning from nearby fire, lava, flint and steel, or fire charges, with vanilla-style flames and fire spread. Burn damage accumulates permanently and survives extinguishing and save/load. Normal fire reaches full charring in 90 seconds; lava takes 10 seconds at 20 TPS.
  • Progressive ash-texture blending up to 90% opacity, retaining the original texture underneath. Normal fire advances in 5% steps; lava advances in 10% steps. Fire-immune creatures are protected, including iron golems, blazes, magma cubes, Ice and Fire fire dragons, and Saint's Dragons Ignivorus/Cindervane. An entity tag allows additional fire-immune exclusions.
  • Three-hit harvesting of fully charred corpses, recovering up to 30% of their remaining contents through randomized drops. Each hit also produces 1–3 charcoal, 2–5 rotten flesh and 2–4 bones where appropriate, with vanilla ash/smoke particles. Inventory recovery uses cumulative rounding by individual item count, preserves item data, and destroys unrecovered contents after the third hit. Entity tags control flesh and bone drops.
  • Server-owned embedded arrows that persist after death and follow corpse parts. Shift + right-click an arrow with both hands empty to pull it out; eligible arrows retain their original item data. Arrow In The Knee is not required.
  • MCA Reborn appearance snapshots for new corpses, including villager-style player appearances and NPC skin, face, clothing and hair layers.
  • Operator commands: /corpsebound clear, /corpsebound clear <radius> players|mobs|all, and /corpsebound clear all. These affect loaded corpses in the current dimension, release remaining items, and skip buried, carried or open corpses.

Fixed and improved

  • Fixed the Forge event-priority initialization failure responsible for the reported EnumConstantNotPresentException. Hardened optional integration initialization against incompatible APIs.
  • Respect Iron & Blood's public bleeding eligibility policy when capturing corpse wound visuals, including overrides and allow/deny tags. Missing or incompatible optional APIs do not enable blood on excluded creatures.
  • Fixed missing player outer skin layers, including corpses created through /kill.
  • Fixed horse/donkey and other supported quadruped head/limb attachment gaps, and corrected captured iron golem proportions.
  • Improved Worthy Adversaries size handling for adult, baby, small and giant variants. Corrected native model scale baselines and avoided repeated variant scaling.
  • Fixed PlayerRevive's temporary downed dimensions affecting player corpse proportions.
  • Added seeded random whole-body tilting and toppling for new upright corpses, reducing balanced standing or kneeling deaths while retaining knockback and collision.
  • Restricted edge support to the torso; connected hands, feet and heads retain collision and interaction without holding an unsupported body in place.
  • Improved equipment-slot spacing and validation of inactive inventory slots.

Behavior and compatibility details

  • Fire spreading opportunities are reduced by 70%. Water and rain extinguish flames without resetting accumulated charring. Fire propagation respects doFireTick, and walls block propagation.
  • Hopper collection preserves inventory and equipment item data, respects intake availability and capacity, and avoids forcing chunk loads. Carried and buried corpses are excluded. Manual and automated ash harvesting share the same three-hit limit; queued ash output is retained when the destination is full.
  • Config edits are drafts until Save. Client preferences, new-world defaults and the current singleplayer world's rules have separate save targets. Remote server rules are read-only in the client screen and synchronized from the server.
  • Optional lifetime limits preserve the existing defaults: no new fixed expiration timer, with the existing NPC cleanup rules unchanged and player corpses retained by default. Timed removal waits for safe conditions, including released carrying and closed inventories, and does not force-load chunks.
  • Embedded arrows are synchronized and saved with their corpse parts. Recoverable arrows retain their original item data; creative, Infinity, piercing and unsupported custom-arrow cases remain visual-only. This feature does not require Arrow In The Knee and does not add support for shooting arrows into already-dead corpses.
  • No additional mods are required. Curios, Epic Fight, Iron & Blood, MCA Reborn, PlayerRevive and Worthy Adversaries integrations remain optional.
  • Iron & Blood owns ground corpse seepage. Correcting that separate behavior requires the companion Iron & Blood fix; updating Corpsebound alone does not replace it.

Performance

  • Reduced temporary allocations in server collision loops and optimized rigid-mesh vertex submission without reducing geometry or physics solver steps.
  • Added nearby terrain-change wakeups while retaining periodic support checks.
  • Reused charring texture data and limited texture-update work per frame.

Updating

Update the server and all clients together; this build uses network protocol 29. Remove older Corpsebound JARs before installing. Existing corpses without MCA snapshots cannot recover their original customized MCA appearance.

Compatibility and performance changes passed build and regression checks; full modpack visual and gameplay validation is still pending.
