Core Ecosystem (Infection Mod)

A meteor brings a living alien plant to your world. It roots, hatches its heart, grows its own creatures and trees of the dead, and spreads its miasma toward you. Cut it down before it grows too big to stop. [Medium AI assisted Development]

What's new

Added:
  - The Carnivorous Flower: a full-grown Wrapping Vine goes into a chrysalis and comes out a flower that hides in the ground, eats mobs within 4 blocks, shoots hostiles within 16 like the Seedpod Launcher, and crawls to the tree with the most mobs.
  - The SubCore Vine: when a SubCore becomes a full tree, two grow out of it, twice as tall as a Wrapping Vine with the flower's bud for a head, and stay within 16 blocks; they shoot hostiles to 20 blocks, wrap for double, blind and head-lock what they hold, and let go only after 10 hearts of damage. A spawn egg too.
  - Wrapping Vines go to the colony's tree with the most mobs nearby, the most hostile first, and grow by what they eat: each kill rolls a third each for a block of length, a heart and an armour point, up to 15.
  - The Guardians answer mass deaths: more than 5 of the colony's creatures dying within 16 blocks in a minute sends the Hunting and Cave Guardians, and the Heart Guardian within 75 of the Core, to fight there.
  - Preserved meals: a Gardener ties the animal it catches down near a Guardian being born, immune to the miasma while tied, and a grown Guardian wraps a catch in silk and carries it to a Pre-Guardian short of meals.
  - Phase 9: a great heart of flesh fills the dome's middle with the Core inside it, beating faster when fed; the cords hang like leads, sway with the beat and swing when you walk through them.
  - Each dart of the flower's eye jerks its head and sends a shake down the stalk; with nobody in its gaze the flower turns to look at things within 64 blocks.
  - Ascended Tree worms dig down: they eat a half-sphere under their tree, nearest the trunk first and the surface last, and pockets under a tree's land fill back in with veins.
  - The worms take shifts: only the five trees nearest the Core and the five farthest have working worms at a time, the two groups sliding toward each other tree by tree as each is done, and starting again when they meet.
  - Brute Guards grow to at least 20 and Scout Guards to at least 12 from Phase 5; Gardeners stay at 10.
  - A Guardian's falls, revivals and deaths are written in the log with their cause.
  - Settings for every number above, and for the pod's crash, the dragonflies' reach and the long walk.
Removed:
  - Jade's doing lines in every mode; in creative only a growth's timer stays.
  - The command /coreco: it is /core_eco now, and every part of it acts on the closest loaded Core at any distance.
  - Guardians sliding through any depth of ground when stuck.
Tweaked:
  - The Msg Reader is the RVI Tablet.
  - The Wrapping Vine's wrap has no gap at rest; each hit from inside still opens one.
  - A Gardener that cannot reach the Core for its graft gives up its turn after 30 seconds, so the next one goes.
  - Seedpod Launchers leave anything caught in a web alone.
  - Nothing stays inside the plant's stem: no webs spun into it, bodies inside moved out, the Guardians' perch a block farther out.
  - Guardians walk round other Guardians in their way and no longer stand still between route searches; a stuck one burrows at most 3 blocks at a time; Cave Guardians take only caves within 3 blocks of the surface; a revived Guardian is at half health from the moment its chrysalis begins.
  - Dragonflies never hunt, rest or hover under a roof, fly out of caves, and go round walls.
  - The biomass full is 200,000, or no cap at all at 0; the miasma fog reaches twice as far.
  - The phases take their time: Phase 3 wants 2,000 fed and Phase 4 a thousand spare, and no phase ends before seven game-minutes.
  - A SubCore Tree has triple a Sapling's health and full armour; a Sapling born after the Tree Stage takes 10 minutes to grow its tree.
  - A one-block-tall player is in the sunk miasma, and it looks like smoke beneath you.
  - Spore's growth cannot take the colony's ground; Wrapping Vines go under water over the colony's veins; no black box round a web.
  - The plant's stem is 3 blocks wider in radius at its base, and its head stays 50 blocks lower, under the clouds.
  - Small fixes from the merge: a Guardian's heal reaches full, two worms never claim one block, a dragonfly does not fly back under a doorway, a Cave Guardian keeps its dug lair, a dying SubCore Vine is not replaced at once.
