C'Npc
C'Npc is a fully in-game NPC creation and management mod for Forge 1.20.1, built for Medieval Fantasy roleplay servers. No config files, no external editors - spawn an NPC, right-click it with the NPC Tool, and configure everything from a menu while you play.
Getting started
The NPC Tool isn't in any creative tab yet - grab it with:
/give @s c_npc:npc_tool
As an operator, right-click a block with it to spawn an NPC and open its editor directly, or right-click an existing NPC with it to reopen that editor.
Highlights
- Player-skinned or disguised NPCs - use any Minecraft username, a direct skin URL, or disguise the NPC as any vanilla mob (searchable list) while keeping the same AI and hitbox underneath.
- Branching dialogue - up to 16 pages per NPC, each with up to 4 custom-labeled buttons that lead to another page, close the conversation, open trading, or accept/turn in a quest. A simple one-line dialogue is used automatically until you build a branching tree.
- Quests - up to 6 quests per NPC (given and turned in by the same NPC), with two objective types (bring items / kill creatures), item rewards, adjustable XP, optional faction reputation rewards, and configurable repeat cooldowns (once, instant, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly). Players get a personal quest log (inventory icon) showing live progress on every accepted quest.
- Factions with real consequences - name your own factions, set their posture toward players (Hostile/Neutral/Friendly) and their relations with each other. Hostile factions actually fight: NPCs attack on sight, and player-vs-player faction wars are fully supported. Reputation thresholds (built from quest rewards) can override the default posture per player - earn enough goodwill and a hostile faction leaves you alone, or tank your reputation and a friendly one turns on you.
- Trading - real vanilla trading UI (same interface as villagers), edited by dragging items into an admin screen. Unlimited uses, no restock system.
- Equipment - a real drag-and-drop inventory (helmet/chestplate/leggings/boots + both hands) for player-skinned NPCs.
- Movement - three behavior modes (Stationary, Wander within a configurable radius, or Patrol a custom multi-point path with per-point wait times), plus Walk/Run speed, a permanent crouched pose, and occasional idle hops for extra life.
- Everything server-admin-only, in-game - every screen above (skin, dialogue, quests, factions, path, equipment, trades) is opened with a right-click while holding the NPC Tool as an operator. Regular players just get the normal dialogue/trading experience.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.4.22+
Known limitations
- No conditions on dialogue buttons yet beyond quest accept/turn-in (e.g. requiring an item or a quest state) - planned for later if there's demand.
- Downloaded skins are cached in memory for the session only (no disk cache yet).
