Chest Transporter solves the problem at its root: a mechanical tool with a steampunk aesthetic, featuring a spring-loaded claw that opens, grabs the chest (or barrel, or even a monster spawner) with all its contents still inside, and places it back intact wherever you decide.

⚙️ Key Features

📦 Capture with inventory intact — right-click on a chest (including double chests), a barrel, or any container block from other mods, and the tool dismantles it along with everything it contains.
🔄 Faithful replacement — right-click on a block to place it back exactly as you found it: same orientation, same custom name, same lock.
🔗 Native cross-mod compatibility — automatically recognizes any chest/barrel that uses the common c:chests / c:barrels tags, plus all vanilla variants (including the copper chest at every oxidation stage).
👾 Also works on monster spawners — vanilla and modded (e.g., Apothic Spawner).
📈 Four progression tiers, from wood to netherite, each with its own balance of risk and convenience.
⚡ A miniature steam engine with actual rotating gears (not painted) and a pulsing gauge — because even a work tool can have personality.

Each tier is unlocked through a crafting recipe at the crafting table, in progression: the final jump to the Netherite tier happens at the smithing table, with the same upgrade ritual as diamond tools — because a chest that weighs as much as a boulder deserves the same treatment as a legendary sword.

Requires NeoForge. Copy the jar corresponding to your Minecraft version into the mods folder.

🙏 Credits and Inspiration

The idea of "picking up a chest and carrying it elsewhere" isn't new: it comes from the historic mod Chest Transporter by cubex2 for Minecraft 1.12.2 and earlier versions, a small classic for those who've built Minecraft bases with too many chests scattered everywhere. The credit for the original concept is entirely his.

📜 Note on code and rights: cubex2's original mod is distributed with all rights reserved. This project does not reuse, does not decompile, and does not derive from any part of it — neither code, nor models, nor textures, nor assets of any kind. From that mod, only the basic idea was taken ("a tool that collects a chest with its contents"); everything else — game engine, mechanics, source code, 3D models, textures, balancing — has been written and designed entirely from scratch for this project, on a modern NeoForge base.

✨ This version expands the original concept with native cross-mod compatibility, double chest handling, monster spawner support, and an entirely new steampunk-themed aesthetic.

🚧 Project Status — Work In Progress

Chest Transporter is an actively developed project. The core mechanics (capture, transport, placement, the four tiers) are complete and tested, but:

🎨 Models and textures are artisan/placeholder: functional and on-theme, but not yet at the level of a dedicated artist — they will improve in upcoming releases.
⚖️ Durability and effect balancing is still subject to adjustments based on community feedback.
🔮 Further cross-mod integrations and aesthetic refinements are planned (more elaborate animations, additional 3D model details).

💡 Reports, ideas, and feedback are welcome — this is a project that grows thanks to those who play it.
