Chef's House
Farmer's Delight and countless food add-ons give Minecraft an enormous collection of dishes. Even with JEI, learning every recipe and processing chain can become a chore, so many players eventually settle on one efficient meal and ignore most of the food their modpack has to offer.
Chef's House was created to remove that busywork and make a varied food collection worth experiencing. Build a compact staffed kitchen, stock its Ingredient Pantry, and let its dedicated chef discover what can be prepared. Finished meals are delivered to the Serving Cabinet while the chef visibly carries ingredients between the pantry, cutting board, crafting table, smoker, stove, and cooking pot.
How it works
- Craft a Chef's House Blueprint and place a full, collision-free preview in the world.
- Choose from four 13×11 kitchen designs, rotate the building, confirm the preview, then build it separately.
- Alternatively, build any structure you like and assemble a custom kitchen from the individual craftable functional blocks.
- Put real ingredients in the pantry. Water, knives, sticks, and bowls are treated as the chef's permanent supplies.
- The chef recursively prepares required intermediate ingredients such as chopped produce, dough, sauces, and cooked components.
- Every visible recipe step is performed in sequence at the matching physical workstation.
- Collect completed dishes from the linked serving cabinet.
Building a custom kitchen
The blueprint is optional. For a player-built kitchen, place these four required Chef's House blocks near one another:
- Chef Calling Station — right-click it and choose Call Chef.
- Chef's Menu Board — controls Default/Blacklist/Whitelist selection and minimum hunger.
- Ingredient Pantry — stores the real ingredients the chef may consume.
- Serving Cabinet — receives finished dishes.
Keep the station, board, and both storage blocks within 12 horizontal blocks and 4 vertical blocks of the menu board. The nearest compatible blocks link automatically under a unique kitchen ID, so separate kitchens do not share chefs or inventories.
Add the physical workstations needed by the recipes you want to support:
- A Crafting Table for shaped and shapeless crafting
- A Furnace, Smoker, or Farmer's Delight Stove for heating and smoking
- A Farmer's Delight Cutting Board for chopping recipes
- A Farmer's Delight Cooking Pot for pot recipes
The crafting table and basic heating blocks are enough for vanilla-style recipes. Farmer's Delight is needed for cutting-board and cooking-pot processing. A job using a missing workstation will remain pending instead of being faked at another block.
Variety, menus, and filters
The scheduler persistently rotates through compatible foods instead of repeatedly favoring the first easy recipe. It tracks prior output and prioritizes less frequently cooked dishes, with randomized choice among suitable candidates, so the kitchen is designed to produce as many different kinds of meals as the available ingredients allow.
The menu board provides:
- Default, blacklist, and whitelist modes
- A searchable list of foods detected from loaded recipes
- A minimum-hunger filter adjustable from 0 to 10 bars in half-bar steps (default: 3.5 bars)
- The hunger threshold applies in Default and Blacklist modes; Whitelist is an explicit override and ignores it
- Intermediate ingredients remain exempt when they are required for an allowed final dish
- Plain one-ingredient grilling is excluded from Default and Blacklist output, while processed ingredients may still be heated as part of a proper dish
Compatibility and safety
Chef's House reads the live recipe registry, so standard crafting, furnace, smoker, and campfire food recipes from mods added later are discovered automatically after a recipe reload or world restart. Farmer's Delight cutting-board, cooking-pot, and dough recipes receive dedicated support without a hard Java API dependency.
Compatibility is deliberately conservative. Only processes represented by the kitchen's real workstations are executed. Unknown machine recipes and timed processes—such as fermentation, aging, drying, milling, pressing, or Create mixing—are not silently converted into instant crafting. A recipe chain also will not start unless every required workstation exists in the linked kitchen. Specialized recipes that hide their output or ingredient data may require a future adapter.
Other features
- Four decorated kitchen styles: Rustic Timber Kitchen, Brick Bistro, Copper Cafe, and Bright Modern Kitchen
- A dedicated non-trading, invulnerable chef with normal villager-level health
- The chef remains inside the linked kitchen while working or idle
- Persistent per-kitchen UUID ownership prevents nearby kitchens from sharing chefs or inventories
- Calling Station controls for summoning and dismissing chefs in custom kitchens
- Two-step blueprint demolition for safely removing a generated house and its chef
- Stored and in-progress ingredients are returned safely when work is cancelled or a linked house is removed
- Korean and English localization, including an in-menu quick guide
- Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge 47.x
- Farmer's Delight is optional but recommended
- Create is optional and not a hard dependency
Install the same JAR on both client and server.
