Description
Cave Horror: White Eyes
This will be my attempt at personal iteration of the original, first-ever Minecraft creepypasta back from July 2010 called "White Eyes". For this, I decided to mix in several concepts brought up by authors of the other truly amazing mods, including the Cave Dweller mod by Gargin, with my own ideas.
On NeoForge, requires GeckoLib 4.9.2 or newer.
! IMPORTANT !
- Firstly, I suck at manual Java coding, so, for creating this I have to use AI (specifically, DeepSeek V4 Flash for now). You're free to judge me, but I just fear to learn Java from scratch. The coding outsourcing or helping hands would be highly welcome and appreciated. The source code can be found here: https://github.com/favasur/backrooms-hytale. Contact me somehow if you wanna help with this mod.
- Therefore, as of right now, this mod needs lots of testing and is still missing lots of planned features.
For now, it just features revamped look of Enderman, similar to its original, pre-release model and texture, which just happens to be identical to the White Eyes (see more about it below).
Backstory and Reasoning
If you know about Herobrine's story, you know Herobrine's story was made up, but you also should know that it has not originated as its own thing. In July 2010, when the creepy cave sounds were first introduced into the game, they didn't come alone: with cave sounds, game also received a rendering glitch that would cause two white pixels appearing in the dark. Was it intentional or not, it's unknown to this day, but it sparked a lot of dread in players back then.
Shortly after that, Daniel Rosenfeld (aka C418) added new 'Found Footage'-type music disks to the game, — "11" and "13". Apparently, these are closely related, since "13" music disk record seemingly continues right after the end of "11" record.
The main reason for creating the cave sounds and the mentioned music disk records was clearly the composer's desire to add an element of horror and atmospheric storytelling to Minecraft through the ambient sounds.
Now, the same 13 cave ambient sounds, as well as music disks "11" and "13", originally introduced by C418, remain in the game to this day, but they still make no sense in terms of gameplay. They don't follow any particular in-game event, so they seem out of place. Even if the reason for their introduction was to add creepy tension to the game, it doesn't quite work in a long run without a real threat.
Oddly enough, when Notch decided to add Enderman to the game, it initially had texture with the same two pixels instead of actual eyes! Well, technically four pixels, but still. This makes you wonder if Notch could be inspired by the White Eyes creepypasta? And you know what, I bet he was, or at least he was inspired by Herobrine, for sure. I mean, look how he describes it:

This is the very first and real pre-release Beta model and texture of an Enderman that I put over the dark cave backrgrond for illustration purposes (and because Markdown language that this post uses doesn't allow me to insert a thin vertical image as a thumb image with text beside it, only a vertical-stacked one). You can find the original render on the official Minecraft Wiki here, or in "History > Development" section in the Enderman article.

First in-game screenshot of Endermen ever, made by Notch himself. You can notice they have fully white eyes, the same two white pixels!
Anyway, his impression of this mob was clear: it was intended to be creepy, and if you aren't used to Enderman and encounter them for your first time, it indeed is very creepy, much like the Cave Dweller
