CactusBlade511's Medicines is a mod that adds semi-realistic medicines and diseases to Minecraft.

In addition to medical features, the mod also expands the game with new structures, plants, ores, mobs, and a lot more, enriching exploration and gameplay. This mod also ramps up the game's difficulty, making survival mode more challenging and fun :D

Features

Cactusblade511’s Medicines contains a variety of diseases, of the following categories:

 

- Viruses: Spread fast, develop quickly

- Bacteria: Slow development, but can become very severe

- Fungi: Surface-level infections, can be treated easily but have difficult symptoms

- Parasites: Organisms that attach and feed off of the host, can be difficult to treat

- Toxins (Future concept): Environmental hazards that cannot be cleared by the body on its own

 

Below are the currently functional diseases that exist in Cactusblade511’s Medicines:

 

Common Cold

Common colds are viruses that are contracted from being in cold temperatures/biomes without proper equipment. They are usually very mild, and can be treated easily, by using Ibuprofen/Acetaminophen. Villages usually stock these drugs and they can easily be bought from doctors.

 

COVID-19

Covid-19 is a medium to severe viral infection. It is currently functional in the game, but can only be appied to players and entities through commands or creative mode [work in progress feature]. Symptoms can include coughing, sneezing, and fatigue. It can be treated specifically with the antiviral Nirmatrelvir. Painkillers are advised to mitigate symptoms. Nirmatrelvir is a complex medicine to synthesize. Due to this and the fact that COVID-19 is a relatively new virus, medicine will be difficult to find. Searching through abandoned experimental laboratories may yield more success.

 

Athlete’s Foot

Athlete’s foot is a mild to medium fungal infection. It slows movement and causes pain. It can infect the player by wearing suffocating footwear in biomes with unclean water, (swamp, mangrove) causing the fungus to grow quickly. It can be treated with an Antifungal cream and painkillers (Ibuprofen/Acetaminophen) to ease symptoms. Antifungal cream is well-known, but may be uncommon. Search in currently inhabited establishments for it or its ingredients.

 

Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is an extremely severe bacterial infection of the lungs. It is contracted by interacting with entities in a village, with a small chance. It typically involves coughing, weakness, and fatigue. It can be treated with specific antibiotics (Isoniazid and Rifampin). These drugs will be hard to find, as they are quite expensive. Take painkillers to ease symptoms. Isoniazid and Rifampin are medium-complexity. Search in highly populated areas for them or their ingredients. Although it develops fairly slowly, please keep in mind that Tuberculosis is extremely dangerous when left alone and cannot be cleared by the body on its own. Failure to treat adequately will result in death.

 

Malaria

Malaria is a severe parasite that infects the red blood cells. It is carried by mosquitos in taiga biomes. Symptoms can involve chills, muscle aches, fatigue, and nausea. It can be treated with specific Atovaquone-Proguanil tablets. Painkillers should be used to help with symptoms, however ginger-based tea is particularly effective if proper medicine cannot be found or made. The synthesis of Atovaquone-proguanil is a complex, multi-step process. Search in abandoned laboratories to find it or its ingredients. Malaria is very difficult for the immune system to destroy. By not treating it, symptoms may naturally improve, however the parasite remains in the body and will usually result in complete organ failure. There is a small chance to survive and have to deal with a rebound infection rather than instant death.

 

Cactusblade511’s Medicines also introduces two new villager professions:

 

Doctor Villager: Live in their specific houses in Villages. Sells pharmaceutical medicine and high-quality items, for a premium.

Healer Villager: Live in seclusion due to disagreements with the doctors. Sells herbal and traditional medicines for less. Although less effective, they can be helpful when the pharmaceutical version is not available.

 

As well as the Healer hut and Doctor’s house, Cactusblade511’s Medicines introduces another new structure: The Abandoned Lab.

Abandoned labs generate everywhere in the overworld. They contain many chemical ingredients, a medicine creation setup, and some unconventional items. They contain lots of loot, but beware of the traps as they were not built to be raided.

 

Around the world, you will encounter a book called the Medical Encyclopedia. It contains very limited information to start, but you can use Missing Pages to uncover more information about the Diseases, Disease Types, Treatments, and Immunizations.

 

The Recipes for all Treatments and Immunizations can be found around the world in Synthesis Recipes. These pieces of paper detail instructions on how to make its specified treatment. It is also required to put it into the block that you are using.
