What's new

ButcherCraft v0.10.1-alpha.1

First Multi-Workstation Production Update

This update expands ButcherCraft from a single workstation into its first complete production chain. Players can now grind meat, manually transfer products between workstations, and complete a guided production workflow using the new Production Order system.

🆕 New Features

🍔 Patty Former Workstation

The Patty Former has been added as the second playable workstation.

  • Craft and place the Patty Former.
  • Process Ground Beef → Beef Patties.
  • Server-authoritative processing with progress tracking.
  • Save/load support for active operations.
  • Duplicate-safe processing and completion.

📋 Production Order

A new Production Order item introduces the first guided production workflow.

Players can now:

  • Create a Beef Patties Production Run.
  • Assign a Grinder.
  • Assign a Patty Former.
  • Track production progress.
  • Receive step-by-step guidance through the manufacturing process.

The Production Order observes production—it does not automate machines or move items for you.

🥩 Grinder Expansion

The Grinder has been expanded into a reusable processing workstation.

New supported products:

  • Beef Trim → Ground Beef
  • Pork Trim → Ground Pork
  • Chicken Trim → Ground Chicken
  • Buffalo Trim → Ground Buffalo
  • Lamb Trim → Ground Lamb
  • Venison Trim → Ground Venison

All six products use the same deterministic processing system and Execution framework.

🔗 First Multi-Workstation Production Chain

The first complete production chain is now available:

Beef Trim
→ Grinder
→ Ground Beef
→ (Manual Transfer)
→ Patty Former
→ Beef Patties

Production now tracks each workstation independently while preserving workstation ownership and player interaction.

🎮 Gameplay Improvements

  • Added Beef Patties as a new product.
  • Added Patty Former crafting recipe.
  • Added Patty Former textures, models, blockstates, and localization.
  • Expanded Production Order guidance and player feedback.
  • Improved workstation status messages.
  • Improved production progress tracking.
  • Better handling of blocked outputs and invalid inputs.

🎨 Visual Improvements

  • Fixed machine block-face culling issues affecting:
    • Grinder
    • Patty Former
    • Bandsaw
  • Corrected non-full-block rendering.
  • Removed stale rendering assets.
  • Improved generated workstation models.
  • Fixed Production Order localization.

⚙️ Production Framework

Production can now:

  • Observe Grinder operations.
  • Observe Patty Former operations.
  • Track ordered production steps.
  • Validate product flow between workstations.
  • Wait for manual transfer between machines.
  • Complete only after authoritative workstation results.

No automatic item movement has been introduced.

🧪 Stability & Testing

This release significantly expands automated validation.

  • 1,296 automated tests
  • 88 automated in-world GameTests
  • Stable data generation
  • Deterministic workstation identities
  • Improved save/load validation
  • Extensive duplicate-protection testing
  • Additional rendering validation

🚧 Known Limitations

ButcherCraft is still in Alpha.

Current limitations include:

  • Manual transfer between workstations
  • No worker automation
  • No Allocation system
  • No automated logistics
  • No refrigeration or packaging systems
  • Placeholder artwork for some products
  • Production Order currently supports one production chain

❤️ Thank You

Thank you for helping test ButcherCraft during its early development.

With this release, ButcherCraft now supports its first complete multi-workstation production chain, providing the foundation for future automation, worker management, and full-scale meat processing facilities.
