# ButcherCraft 0.6.8 – Datapack Transformations
ButcherCraft's processing transformations are now loaded from datapack JSON
resources instead of being registered directly in code.
## New
- Added datapack-backed transformation loading.
- Added reload support for transformation definitions.
- Added structured validation and error reporting for invalid transformation
resources.
- Added reload-safe registry replacement.
- Migrated the following built-in transformations to datapack resources:
- Beef grinding
- Pork grinding
- Bison grinding
- Beef Forequarter fabrication
## Improvements
- Transformation content can now be changed without modifying the processing
engine.
- Invalid datapack content no longer replaces the active working registry.
- Failed reloads preserve the previous valid transformation definitions.
- Added validation for:
- Duplicate transformation IDs
- Unknown products
- Unknown workstation capabilities
- Unsupported schema versions
- Malformed JSON
- Missing or invalid definition fields
- Preserved all existing Grinder and Bandsaw behavior.
## Technical Highlights
- JSON-to-canonical transformation parsing
- Immutable transformation registry assembly
- Atomic active-registry replacement
- Reload-safe failure handling
- Separation between Minecraft integration and the pure Java transformation model
- Expanded datapack and regression testing
## Early Beta Notice
ButcherCraft remains in active development.
This release primarily expands the mod's underlying data-driven processing
system. Existing Grinder and Bandsaw gameplay remains available, while future
updates will use this system to add larger fabrication catalogs and additional
processing workflows.
