Bloodstone's Grudges
Some mobs don't forget.
Inspired by the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, Bloodstone's Grudges turns the mob that killed you into a rival. It gets a name, it levels up, and the next time it shows up it's stronger, better equipped, and bringing friends.
How it works
- Kill you, earn a name. When a mob kills you, it can become a grudge mob with its own unique name.
- Tiers. Grudge mobs climb through tiers as they keep winning. Higher tiers spawn with better gear and get noticeably tougher.
- Legends. The top tier, Legend, is a real mini-boss fight.
- They come back. Grudge mobs aren't kept loaded forever. Instead, they have a chance to spawn naturally alongside normal mobs, so performance stays smooth.
- A spawn is an event. When a grudge mob returns, it brings an escort with it, and a chat announcement warns you. Announcements are varied, so they don't repeat the same line every time.
- Health bar. Grudge mobs get their own health bar, cleaner and less dramatic than a full boss bar.
- Cowards run. A grudge mob at low health has a chance to flee. If it escapes, it loses 3 tiers.
- Grudge list. View every mob that currently holds a grudge against you.
Legend journals
Every Legend carries a signed book that tells its story: where it came from, every encounter it's had with you, and other mobs that share its grudge. Knock someone off a cliff, or make them jump to escape, and that goes in the book too.
Not included
Bosses like the Ender Dragon, Wither, and Warden can't become grudge mobs.
