What's new
BIGDOGS RAYGUNS 1.3
Portals you can see through, Raynium tools, weapons made from the bosses, gadgets, a field that keeps your base in one piece, coffee, a way to never truly die, three new ways to fly, meteor showers, a robot butler, trophies, a raygun that bottles the landscape, and a belt that changes your size.
The Portal Raygun
For the client who prefers to arrive without the inconvenience of travelling.
- Linked Portals: left click fires a teal portal, right click a violet one, onto any two walls, floors or ceilings. You can see through them, like windows: what is on the other side is drawn live. Walk, jump, fall or throw things through; momentum carries over and turns with the portals, so falling into a floor portal flings you out of a wall one. Mobs, items, arrows and other projectiles go through too. Portals work across any distance and into other dimensions, and a portal fling never ends in fall damage.
- Coordinate Portals: press P for the Coordinate Console. Type X, Y and Z, pick a dimension, or tap Here, Last death or Spawn; save your favourite destinations. The console shows a preview of the place, its biome, and whether it had to move you to safe ground. Fire to open a swirling travel portal there for 15 seconds, so friends can follow. It never drops you inside rock, into lava, over the void or from the sky.
- Portal charge: hold Ender Pearls or Raynium Ingots in your other hand, or recharge it at the Raygun Station. Takes upgrade modules (faster shots, shorter coordinate cooldown, longer-lasting travel portals). Destroys nothing.
- Press Z to close your portals; operators can close anyone's with
/oprayguns portals clear. - Settings for servers: travel distance limit (10,000 blocks by default, unlimited in singleplayer), allowed dimensions, cooldown, operator-only coordinate portals, cross-dimension links. On your side: portal view quality (Live, Snapshot or Off) and resolution.
Raynium tools
A sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe, made at the Raygun Station from their netherite versions and eight Raynium Ingots (enchantments and names carry over). Faster and tougher than netherite, fireproof, repaired with Raynium Ingots.
- Sword: +25% damage against bosses and their minions; sprint into a full swing to send a teal energy wave through a crowd.
- Pickaxe and shovel: sneak + use toggles 3x3 mining.
- Axe: fells the whole tree at once (sneak for one log).
- Hoe: tills, harvests and replants 3x3.
Weapons made from bosses
- Gravemaw Fang: a fast bone dagger that heals you with every hit and makes wounds bleed.
- Overseer Gauntlet: Rocket Punch: dash eight blocks and send the first thing you hit flying.
- Starfall Spear: throw it like a trident; a small star crashes down where it lands, then it flies home.
- All three take upgrade modules.
Gadgets
- Raynium Jetpack: hold jump in the air to fly, let go to glide. Runs on Raynium Ingots or coal blocks.
- Gravity Gauntlet: pick up a mob or a block, carry it floating in front of you, then drop it or throw it.
- Shrine Compass: points to the nearest shrine or the Perpetuity Vault (sneak + use to switch).
- Raygun Holster: carries nine rayguns; sneak + scroll to pick one, press H to draw it.
For your base
- Aegis Field Generator: a shimmering dome (8 to 48 blocks) in which no raygun, bomb, Worldcleaver or boss can change a single block. Runs on Raynium; you and the friends you trust control it.
- Raygun Display Rack: shows off three guns on the wall, glowing and animated, with a nameplate.
Executive Espresso
Haste II and Speed II for three minutes and a short burst of night vision. Brew it in its cup with cocoa beans or craft it with a Raynium Nugget, and keep the cup. The Arms Dealer stocks it, along with Raynium Nuggets and the Shrine Compass. Raynium Nuggets: nine to an ingot.
The BIGDOGS Continuity Program
Why die, when you can simply reschedule?
- Take a Genetic Sample of yourself with the Genetic Sampler, and grow a clone in the Cloning Vat (with Raynium and Growth Medium, about one in-game day). You can watch it take shape in the tube.
- Step into a Stasis Pod and Transfer: your real body sleeps safely in the pod, with everything it carries, while your mind wakes up in the clone, empty-handed, slightly pale, with a faint teal outline and a barcode on the neck. Clones have 8 hearts (more with Amplifier modules in the Vat) and get hungry a little faster.
- Recall whenever you like (a key you can bind, or the pod): you wake up at home and the clone stays where it stood, dormant, until you Re-link to it.
- If the clone dies, there is no death screen: "Link severed.", you gasp awake in your real body, and a green portal opens and throws back everything the clone was carrying, plus half its experience. Nothing is ever lost or doubled, even across logouts and restarts.
- The Vat takes two upgrade modules: Capacitor grows clones faster, Amplifier gives them more health, Coolant calms their appetite.
- Server settings: turn it off, make real bodies vulnerable on PvP servers, growth time, clone health, hunger, the sampler's cost, the experience returned, and how returned items are delivered.
Executive Transport
For the executive who finds roads a touch pedestrian.
- Raynium Wingsuit: glides farther and faster than an elytra with teal light trails; double-tap jump for a boost. No Raygun Core needed, and the Arms Dealer stocks it.
- BIGDOGS Hoverbike: a flying black-and-gold motorbike that banks into turns, climbs to any height, boosts, and has headlights. Seats you and a passenger.
- Executive Saucer: a flying saucer with a glass dome for two that can hover perfectly still. Its tractor beam lifts mobs, items and willing friends and carries them along (players can always sneak to break free; no bosses).
- Vehicles run on Raynium fuel, take upgrade modules, can be repaired, packed back into an item, and called to you with a key. Run out of fuel and they land gently; get destroyed and they drop back as an item with their modules.
Meteor showers
- On some nights, glowing meteors streak across the sky and a few crash into the land, leaving a smoking crater of Meteorite with Raynium ore and a BIGDOGS Supply Crate of loot.
- They never land inside an Aegis Field, near beds or spawn, or in villages. The Shrine Compass can point to the nearest crater. Operators can start one with
/oprayguns meteorshower.
Personal Assistant Drone
- A small hovering robot in a bowtie, sold only by Master-level Arms Dealers. It follows you, picks up items into its own inventory, lights up caves, zaps hostile mobs, and chats in the classy voice ("Shall I fetch that for you, sir?").
- Modes: Follow, Fetch, Lights, Defend, Stay. Repair it with Raynium; if it's destroyed it drops as an item with everything it was carrying. Takes 2 upgrade modules.
Boss trophies
- Every boss victory gives each player a trophy: Gravemaw Head, Overseer MK-Ω Head, Nebula Leviathan Head and The Chairman's Bust. Mount them on walls or pedestals; they're animated and show who won them and when.
- Turn any head into a full statue at the Raygun Station.
The Bottled Raygun
- Select an area (cube or sphere, scroll to resize) and the gun lifts it out of the ground, mobs and all, and sucks it into a glass jar on the gun, where you can watch the tiny landscape and its mobs.
- Take the jar off to keep it, rename it, hang it in an item frame, or place it on a table as a Terrarium.
- Put it back on the gun to place it down at any scale: from a Miniature that fits in a single block, through 1/8 and 1/2, up to full size with real blocks and real mobs.
The Raynium Scale Belt
- Worn in the leggings slot. Hold Ctrl and scroll to shrink or grow smoothly, from tiny (with a shimmering "quantum" view) up to titan height. A reset key returns you to normal.
- Speed, reach, jump, fall damage and camera all scale with you. Giants shake the ground; an optional Giant Stomp crushes small plants underfoot. You can never grow into blocks, and it's disabled in boss fights.
HUD toggle
- Press F7 to cycle: everything shown → controls box hidden → all BIGDOGS HUD hidden. Also in Settings → Visuals.
Also new in 1.3
- Coordinate Console: other mods' dimensions now appear in the dimension picker, and Random dimension creates a brand-new world you can save and come back to.
- Controls box: a small box shows the controls for whatever mod item you're holding (toggle it in Settings → Visuals).
- Creative tabs reorganised: Rayguns, Arsenal, Bosses, Materials, Facilities and Ordnance.
- The Cloning Vat is now a grand 2×2 apparatus, three blocks tall.
Fixes and balance
- Fixed a black screen at launch, a crash when using the Portal Raygun, and a crash in the Coordinate Console.
- Mobs pushed or knocked into a portal now go through it, and creatures are now visible through portals.
- Portal views are faster: only what's visible through the portal is drawn.
- With a shader pack active, portals show just the swirl instead of the view (a setting can force views on).
- Rocket Punch cooldown is now 3 seconds; the Starfall Spear's star does 12 damage with a 3-second cooldown.
- More recipe viewer pages: tools, boss weapons and espresso brewing.
