BetterController 0.2.0 for 26.2
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Minecraft 26.2 support — full port to the unobfuscated codebase. Requires Java 25; the 1.21.11 build still runs on Java 21.
CAMERA
The right stick is now read once per rendered frame, at the exact point in the frame where Minecraft applies the mouse. It used to be sampled 20 times a second and stretched across frames, adding up to 50 ms of lag. Most noticeable on fast flicks.
Camera smoothing is now frame-rate independent: the same setting feels the same at 30 fps and at 240 fps.
Fixed: hiding the HUD with F1 froze the camera.
MOVEMENT
The movement deadzone is now circular. A diagonal push escapes it at the same distance as a straight one, and the stick direction is no longer bent just outside the deadzone.
CONTROLLERS
Unrecognised pads are no longer a dead end. Drop your device's line from SDL_GameControllerDB into config/bettercontroller-mappings.txt and it is applied at startup. When no usable pad is found, the log and the F8 overlay now name the device and the GUID a mapping line has to match.
Two players on one machine: preferredControllerGuid and preferredJoystickIndex pin an instance to one specific pad, so two game instances on a LAN world each drive their own controller.
The F8 overlay now shows the slot and GUID of the active pad.
INTERFACE
The Controller Settings button now follows the vanilla screen layout instead of floating in a corner, at any window size or GUI scale.
The mod finally ships an icon — it used to show up blank in the mod list.
