What's new

1.2.4

A fix for clouds seen through glass, for both builds (NeoForge 1.21.1 and Forge 1.20.1).

  • Clouds are now seen properly through modded glass, stained glass, tinted glass and ice, not only through vanilla's plain Glass. With a shader pack, or beside Distant Horizons (NeoForge), the clouds are drawn after the translucent blocks and were tested against a depth that already held every pane, so a pane hid every cloud behind it: a hole in the clouds showing the sky, or the far clouds and ground instead of the near ones. The panes of Create Aeronautics' cockpits and windows are the usual case. The clouds now show behind a pane the way they do behind vanilla's Glass, tinted by it. Thanks to ILYRA for the report.
  • NeoForge 1.21.1 only: the same goes for the rain's haze and the storm fog drawn after the level (the Forge 1.20.1 build has no rain haze pass): what lies behind a pane gets the haze and the fog of its own distance, and a pane no longer cuts the rain behind it out of the picture. The soft fade of clouds against terrain no longer fades them out behind a pane either.
  • Distant Horizons' terrain behind a pane is taken into account under a shader pack, so far mountains are not covered by clouds that belong behind them.
  • Costs one depth copy and one small full-screen pass, only in the frames that draw clouds after the world. Without a shader pack and Distant Horizons nothing changes.
