Shows the name of the song thats currently playing, in a small box that fits the Minecraft HUD.
Since i started playing minecraft back in 2011 from the drop of pocket edition to ps3 and to pc over the years, i always wanted to know which track is playing, plus later with all the newer songs that I dont know yet. The mods I found are either filled with settings that dont fit to minecraft or give little to no settings like the already existing Music Toast, which I didn't like. So i created a mod with all my ideas that i think fit perfectly to vanilla Minecraft by design and features. And of course it needs to support almost every Minecraft Version !
What it does
When a new track starts, a small clean beige/brown (or a color profile your choice) Music Toast pops up with the song title and the artist. The names come straight from the game, so every vanilla track shows up correctly, including menu music and music discs.
Classic music
Newer Minecraft versions mostly play the newer songs. If you miss the old feeling like me, you can switch to C418s classic soundtrack only. It still fits where you are: each biome plays the C418 tracks that belong there, and biomes that never had any since they are new, get fitting picks of their own :)
Music Frequency on every version
Minecraft 1.21.6 added a setting to choose how often music plays: Default, Frequent or Constant. Better Music Toast brings it to every older version too, all the way back to 1.7.10, together with music that keeps playing while the game is paused. You'll find it right in Music & Sounds, next to the Better Music Toast button.
Settings
You can put it in a corner, at the top center or above the hotbar, and choose if it stays for the whole song or just a few seconds. And of course there is a setting to turn Minecrafts own Music Toast off :)
If an advancement or something else pops up in the same spot, the box moves out of the way or hides for a moment, so nothing gets covered.
Where to find the settings
Options → Music & Sounds → Better Music Toast
or through Mod Menu, if you have it
A note on skipping songs
I decided not to add a "skip current track" feature. Minecrafts music has always played by itself, quietly appearing and fading away, its part of the games DNA. Better Music Toast should keep that vanilla feeling with better settings that fit, so it only tells you whats playing and leaves the music itself untouched. You can still if you want choose only C418 Soundtracks or the Mixed Selection, but that doesnt change how the music gets played at its core. That choice is a feature Minecraft really needs :)
