Better Minecart

Ten new minecarts and eight new rails, all built on the vanilla model — including a drill minecart that bores its own tunnel and a track placer that lays the rail under it.

Description

Better Minecart adds ten minecarts and eight rails to Minecraft 1.21.1. Every one
of them is built on the vanilla minecart and the vanilla rail — same body, same
silhouette, same feel. Nothing here looks like it came from a different game.

== THE MINING CONVOY ==

This is the reason the mod exists. Put three carts on a track, load them, walk away.

1. The drill minecart bores a tunnel one block wide and two blocks high in front
   of it. It burns fuel (one coal = eight blocks) and everything it breaks goes
   straight into its own 27-slot inventory — nothing is lost on the floor.
2. The track placer rides behind it and lays the rail UNDER the drill, up to four
   blocks ahead of itself. If there is a hole under the track to come, it fills it
   first with a building block from its own hold.
3. The torch placer brings up the rear and puts a wall torch at head height every
   five blocks, but only where the light has dropped below the spawning threshold.

The drill physically cannot outrun the track. That is not a safety check bolted on
afterwards — a minecart only rolls on rail, and the only rail in front of the drill
is the one the placer just laid. Run out of rails and the whole convoy stops
together and waits, instead of scattering into the rock.

Measured in game, with nobody at the controls:
58 blocks of tunnel, 58 rails and 10 torches in 37 seconds.

== THE TEN MINECARTS ==

Drill — self-propelled, bores a 1x2 tunnel, burns fuel, keeps its loot. Never
  touches rails, bedrock, fluids, or a chest it meets on the way.
Track Placer — lays rail up to four blocks ahead, fills the ground when it has to.
  Takes any rail you give it: vanilla, powered, or any of the eight below.
Torch Placer — a wall torch every five blocks, only below light level 8.
Magnet — pulls dropped items in from six blocks and swallows them. Works parked.
Smelter — a furnace on rails. Its own fuel, its own smoke, and it lights up when
  it is working.
Crafting Table — the 3x3 grid at the end of the line.
Anvil — repair and rename without going home. Heavier, so it rolls slower, and it
  never chips.
Tank — eight buckets of one fluid, water or lava. Full bucket pours in, empty
  bucket draws out.
Ender Chest — opens the ender chest of whoever clicks it. The convoy becomes an
  address, not a haul.
Bed — you can ride it, and sneak-clicking sets your respawn point where it stands.
  A camp that follows the track.

All ten are crafted the same way: the thing, placed on top of a Minecart Frame
(one minecart + four iron ingots). One component, ten recipes that read as one
sentence.

== THE EIGHT RAILS ==

Wooden Rail — takes curves like a normal rail but caps carts at 0.22 blocks/tick
  instead of 0.4. The pre-iron track: cheap, and slow for that reason.
High Speed Rail — doubles the cap to 0.8 and keeps carts at it. Will not start a
  parked cart: a station is not a slingshot.
Reinforced Rail — holds with nothing underneath, and stays there when you dig the
  ground out. Blast resistant. The viaduct rail.
Locked Rail — the one rail whose shape never changes on its own. Right-click with
  an empty hand to cycle it. On a junction, it is what stops the track rerouting
  itself behind your back.
Brake Rail — halves speed every tick down to a hard stop, with sound and sparks.
  Powered: lets carts through.
Holding Rail — holds a cart in the station. Powered: releases it, in the direction
  it was going.
Loader Rail — moves one item every eight ticks from the neighbouring container
  into the cart. Powered: does nothing.
Unloader Rail — the reverse. Powered: does nothing.

The rule is the same on all four redstone rails: powering a rail makes it
transparent.

A full station is a loader or unloader with a holding rail between the two: the
cart is held for the transfer, and the same redstone that frees it cuts the
transfer.

The wooden and high speed caps apply to vanilla minecarts too, including the
furnace minecart.

== GOOD TO KNOW ==

- Dispensers place all ten carts on the track, exactly as they do vanilla ones.
- The three convoy machines keep the heading you gave them when you placed them.
  To turn one around: sneak + right-click with an empty hand.
- Full English and French translations.

== WHAT THIS MOD DOES NOT DO ==

- You cannot sleep in the bed minecart. No entity can carry that; it sets your
  respawn point and nothing more.
- The tank is not hooked to any fluid API. It fills and empties buckets by hand,
  eight at most, one fluid at a time. The lava it carries burns nobody.
- The drill is not a pickaxe. No Fortune, no Silk Touch — bare-hand drops.
- The track placer does not plan a route. It lays straight and flat, in the axis
  the convoy is rolling.
- The loader and unloader do not sort. One item every eight ticks, in order.
- There is no coupling. Carts push each other; they are not linked.

== REQUIREMENTS ==

Minecraft 1.21.1 - Fabric Loader 0.16.0+ - Fabric API - Java 21
Client and server. On a server, both sides need the same jar.
