Bring Minecraft 26.3 content to older versions.

Backport adds features from Minecraft Java 26.3 snapshots to older versions of the game: new biomes, structures, blocks, vegetation, exploration content, gameplay changes and vanilla fixes.

If you want the new stuff without moving your world or modpack to the latest Minecraft version, that's what this mod is for.

Dappled Forest

The Dappled Forest is one of the new biomes included in Backport.

It features colorful poplar trees, dense vegetation, falling leaves and a warm autumn look.

Abandoned Camps

Abandoned Camps can be found while exploring the world.

There are multiple layouts and variants, so you're not going to find the exact same camp every time.

Some of them are also connected to the new exploration content and Explorer Maps.

Explorer Maps

New Explorer Maps give you another reason to travel around the world.

They can point you toward different structures and locations added or supported by the mod.

New Blocks

Backport also includes blocks and decorations introduced throughout the 26.3 snapshots.

Depending on the Minecraft version, this includes things like:

• Poplar blocks
• New plants
• Cushions
• Straw Beds
• New stairs and slabs
• Decorative blocks
• Utility blocks

Gameplay Changes

Not everything in 26.3 is a new block or biome.

Backport also ports gameplay changes from the snapshots when they can work properly on older Minecraft versions.

Smaller vanilla changes and quality-of-life improvements are included alongside the larger features.

Vanilla Fixes

Some vanilla fixes from newer versions are backported too.

These are kept separate from the main content where possible, and optional fixes can be disabled through the config.

Configuration

Don't want one of the features? Disable it.

Available options depend on the Minecraft version, but include things such as:

• Dappled Forest generation
• Abandoned Camp generation
• Wandering Trader additions
• Gameplay changes
• Recipe changes
• Backported fixes
• Other optional snapshot features

This also makes the mod easier to use in larger modpacks where some features may overlap with other mods.

26.3 Snapshot Coverage

Backport is updated around the Minecraft Java 26.3 snapshots.

Each snapshot is handled separately, and new content is added as it becomes available and can be properly ported.

Check the changelog for each release to see exactly what's included.

Compatibility

Backport is available for multiple Minecraft versions and mod loaders.

Check the Versions tab for the currently supported combinations of:

Support varies between Minecraft versions.

Modpacks

Backport can be used in modpacks.

It's especially useful for packs that stay on an older Minecraft version because their mods haven't updated yet, but still want content from newer vanilla releases.

What isn't backported?

Backport focuses on things players actually see and use.

Large internal changes such as rendering rewrites, engine changes, data-format changes and other low-level systems aren't part of the mod.

If a 26.3 feature can reasonably work on an older version, I'll try to port it.

FAQ

Does it work in existing worlds?

Yes.

World-generation content such as new biomes and structures will appear in newly generated chunks.

Can I disable specific features?

Yes. Many features can be turned on or off in the config.

Can I use it in a modpack?

Yes.

Does it contain everything from Minecraft 26.3?

Everything that makes sense to backport.

Internal engine changes and features that can't reasonably work on older Minecraft versions are skipped.

Will new 26.3 snapshots be added?

Yes. New snapshot content will be added in future Backport updates.
