AtmosFear is a pure psychological horror mod for Minecraft, inspired by the movie «It Comes at Night» and the cult visual novel «Doki Doki Literature Club».
[NOTE: Development Notice]
Please note that updates for this mod will be released slowly. This project was a crucial testing ground for a brand-new, massive immersion mod that is coming out very soon. Because main development efforts are moving toward that upcoming next-gen project, new betas for AtmosFear may take some time to arrive. Thank you for your understanding!
Here, you won't meet typical monsters that you can easily hide from behind walls. Your main enemy is your own growing madness.
The mod completely breaks the usual perception of the game by using a custom dynamic fog engine, auditory hallucinations, and a deep system of mental pressure.
Main Features:
- Stress & Paranoia System: A special custom interface (HUD) tracks your sanity in real-time. Every wrong step can be fatal.
- Perception Games: As fear grows, the world literally shrinks around you. At 100% madness, thick volumetric fog will blind you so much that you won't even see a block in front of you. Fog color changes dynamically depending on the biome.
- Auditory Hallucinations (FRACTURED Status): When your mind is broken, you will start hearing footsteps behind you in completely empty rooms and the creepy laughter of witches that are not physically there.
- Invisible Presence (WATCHED Status): The mod is constantly watching you. If you see this status on your screen, know that someone else's invisible sight is directed at you from the darkness. The threat has no physical shape, and you cannot run away from it.
- Cinematic Cutscenes: When starting a world, the game greets you with an atmospheric 3rd-person intro, introducing you to the dark lore of the abandoned mansion.
- Survival through Sleep: A bed is no longer just a spawn point. It is your only tactical artifact and salvation. Didn't go to sleep on time? Welcome to a monochrome nightmare.
The Main Rule:
DO NOT WAKE THE HOUSE.
The project was created by an independent developer using AI, squeezing the maximum capabilities out of the game engine. The mod is in an active beta stage, with massive updates to interfaces, custom textures, and photorealistic blocks coming in future versions.
