Changelog All notable changes to Astra Shastra will be documented here. This project follows Semantic Versioning. [0.3.0-alpha] — 2026-05-23 Polish release for the Gandiva bow family. No new weapons. Includes everything from v0.2.0-alpha (which was not separately uploaded to CurseForge). Changed — Gandiva (all 3 tiers) Hold-to-draw charge mechanic replaces instant-fire. Right-click and hold to draw the bow (vanilla bow animation plays); release to fire. Mirrors how vanilla bows behave. Power scaling — arrow velocity and damage scale with charge time on a quadratic curve. 5 ticks (0.25 s) = minimum viable shot. 20 ticks (1.0 s) = full power. Critical hits — full-charge releases mark arrows as critical, showing vanilla crit-particle effect. Sound pitch deepens with charge — fully-drawn shots sound more powerful. Tap-fire safety — releasing in under 5 ticks does nothing (no zero-power arrows). Range bump — full-charge velocities increased ~50% so arrows fly farther and flatter: Wooden Gandiva: max velocity 1.6 → 2.5 (~50 blocks effective range) Iron Gandiva: max velocity 2.2 → 3.5 (~70 blocks) Gandiva (divine): max velocity 3.0 → 4.5 (~90 blocks; vanilla bow is ~60 for reference) Internal Removed unused cooldownTicks field from BowTier — charge time now naturally rate-limits firing, no separate cooldown needed. Known limitations carried into v0.3 Tracking-arrow / never-miss mechanic for divine Gandiva is still planned (v0.4 candidate). Brahmastra fireball still uses vanilla LargeFireball renderer (Ghast appearance). Custom renderer planned. Throwable-returning projectile for divine Sudarshana Chakra still planned. All 5 Mahabharat astras from the v0.1 roadmap are now in-game. Tested across 4 in-game iteration cycles before release. Texture: morning-star silhouette — spherical head with 8 spikes, dark equator band, grip-wrapped handle, defined pommel. Added — Vajra (Indra's thunderbolt), divine only Two attack modes: Left-click melee — 25 attack damage (3 base + 22 bonus), one-shots most non-boss mobs. Right-click ranged — aim at any block or entity within 50 blocks; lightning strikes that location. 0.75 s cooldown. Mines blocks — functions as a divine multi-tool (pickaxe + axe + shovel speeds at 9.0). 4096 durability, Epic rarity, fire-resistant. Texture: vertical zigzag lightning bolt with bright white core, blue glow, yellow sparks. Recipe: 4 diamond blocks + 4 gold blocks + 1 nether star (3×3 surround). Added — Brahmastra (Brahma's divine missile), divine only Charge-and-release weapon. Right-click and hold for at least 1 s, release to fire a divine fireball with 8× explosion power. Charging particles — ring of lava particles around the player that intensifies as you charge. 5 s cooldown after firing. Premature release fizzles. Texture: vertical divine arrow with triangular tip, gold rune band, angled fletching, fire tail. Recipe: 4 nether stars + 4 diamond blocks + 1 beacon. Changed Creative tab lists 11 weapons grouped by family. [0.1.0-alpha] — 2026-05-22 First public release. Validated the mod packaging + CurseForge publish pipeline. Added Sudarshana Chakra family — three tiers of Krishna's divine discus: Wooden Chakra — 2 sweep damage, 2.5-block radius, 60 durability. Ring of flying wooden sticks. Iron Chakra — 5 sweep damage, 3.0-block radius, 250 durability. Ring of iron nuggets + metallic sparks.
