This update fixes several major bugs, improves the Spell Loom and config screens, adds better modpack support, and makes the mod safer and easier to use.

Major Fixes

Affinity decay fixed

• Affinity decay was draining much faster than intended.
• A high-level school could lose progress in only a few in-game days.
• Decay now works gradually and properly tracks partial progress, even after relogging.
• This only affects players who have affinity decay enabled.

Fixed crash without Iron’s Spellbooks

• The mod could crash on startup if Iron’s Spellbooks was not installed.
• Iron’s-specific code now only runs when Iron’s Spellbooks is present.

Fixed uncraftable tablets

• Spell Transcription and Spellbook Binding tablets now correctly accept real tiered Iron’s spellbooks.
• Modpack makers can customize which spellbooks are allowed.

Fixed LP cost issues

• LP costs now properly follow the LP system setting.
• This should prevent unwanted LP charges, double-cost issues, or LP being used when the system is disabled.

Improved config screen readability

• The config screen is now much easier to read, especially with blur mods, shaders, or dark UI setups.
• Buttons, text, hover tooltips, and read-only multiplayer settings should now behave more clearly.

Spell Loom Improvements

• The Spell Loom screen has been cleaned up and made easier to read.
• It now has better contrast, clearer slots, improved labels, and a more readable layout.
• The Spell Loom now has hover tooltips for its slots, preview area, pickers, and Inscribe button.
• The Inscribe button now explains why crafting cannot happen instead of failing silently.
• The spell-name box works better and keeps typed text after resizing the window.

Source Jar Synergy Improvements

• Source Jar synergy is now safer and more configurable.
• It still avoids loading chunks by accident, helping prevent lag and chunk-loading problems.
• The kill switch is also available in the config screen.
• Debug mode now gives a simple scan summary without spamming the log.

New settings

New Aura Failure Setting

• Added a new Virtue Ring setting: aura_failure_mode.
• This controls what happens if the Nature’s Aura / Covenant compatibility check stops working correctly.
• The mod now logs a warning when this happens.

Better Modpack Support

• Ring, Blasphemy, and Source Jar compatibility now uses datapack tags instead of hardcoded lists.
• This makes it easier for modpack makers to add custom compatible items.

• Added a short advancement chain for the cross-casting system.

Progression and Spell Fixes

• Progression bonuses are now configurable.
• Spell school detection is also more accurate now.
• For example, the Firework glyph should no longer be mistaken for a fire spell just because its name contains “fire.”

New settings

Better Warnings and Testing

• Unsupported Covenant versions now show a clear chat warning once per session.
• Some systems now log their first failure instead of silently doing nothing.
• The mod now has stricter testing for setups without Iron’s Spellbooks, helping prevent crashes for Ars-only players.
