ArcadiaChat
A tabbed chat for multiplayer servers: global, server, private, staff and topic channels, with @mentions, search and a "who is typing" indicator.
ArcadiaChat replaces the single, cluttered Minecraft chat with tabs, so conversations no longer drown in server announcements and command output. It was built for the Arcadia: Echoes of Power network and is fully open source.
Features
Tabs
- All, Global (every server of the network), Server (only the one you are on), Private, Staff and System (announcements, command feedback, messages from other mods).
- One tab per topic channel you joined (
#trade,#recruitment…) and one per private conversation (@Player). - Unread counters on every tab. Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab to switch, right-click a conversation tab to close it.
Write in the right place
The active tab decides where your message goes: all servers, this server only, the staff, a channel, or a player in private. A small label next to the tabs always tells you where you are writing.
Mentions
@YourName is highlighted in gold, with an orange marker, a sound, and the tab that received it lights up.
Who is typing
"Alex is typing…", "Alex and Sam are typing…", "Alex, Sam, Lou and 2 others are typing…", just below the chat, like on Discord. Works across servers in the global chat.
Jump between servers
Hover a message sent from another server of the network to see where it comes from; click it to join that server (with a confirmation).
And also
- Search the open tab with Ctrl+F.
- Time of each message on hover, or in front of every line.
- Filters: hide automatic messages containing chosen words.
- Settings from the gear button of the tab bar, or from the Mods menu: tab order, hidden tabs, history size, mentions, typing indicator, filters.
Requirements and compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, client side only.
- The tabs are fed by ArcadiaBridge on the server, which labels each message (global, server, private, staff, channel). On a server without it, ArcadiaChat stays out of the way: you keep the normal chat, and mentions, timestamps and filters still work.
- Players without ArcadiaChat keep the normal chat: nothing is required on the client.
- Accidentally placed in a server's
modsfolder, it is simply ignored. - Tested with Chat Heads, Emojiful, Longer Chat History and No Chat Reports.
