Apothic Progression 1.0.1
Apothic Progression overhauls enchantment progression in Apotheosis, replacing traditional player-level-based costs with a custom XP points system. Beyond progression and pricing, the mod removes the enchantment level cap and extends enchantment progression up to level 127, the maximum supported by Minecraft vanilla, while maintaining compatibility with Apotheosis enchantment bonuses and mechanics.
XP-Based Enchantment Progression
Enchantment upgrades use a cubic XP cost formula:
C(n) = 10 × n³
Each operation charges only for the increase in each enchantment's level, regardless of the source of the enchantment. Existing enchantments are not charged retroactively, and removing or downgrading enchantments never refunds XP or reduces the cost of other upgrades.
| Level | Accumulated XP per enchantment |
|---|---|
| 20 | 80,000 |
| 50 | 1,250,000 |
| 70 | 3,430,000 |
| 98 | 9,411,920 |
| 127 | 20,483,830 |
Upgrading from level 126 to 127 costs 480,070 XP. Gradual upgrades and direct upgrades have the same cumulative cost, and multiple enchantments are charged additively.
Enchantment Level Cap and Apotheosis Bonuses
- Extended enchantment progression: Removes the previous enchantment level cap and allows progression up to level 127, matching Minecraft vanilla's maximum supported enchantment level.
- Apotheosis compatibility: Accounts for Apotheosis enchantment bonuses and related mechanics while applying the new progression system, preserving the intended behavior of enchantment enhancements.
- Consistent XP accounting: Enchantment additions, upgrades, and book transfers are charged according to the levels actually added to the target item.
- No retroactive costs: Existing enchantments remain unaffected until they are upgraded.
Integrations
- Enchanting Infuser: Calculates the price of the complete selection, checks available XP points, validates the transaction server-side, and applies the discount only once. Includes a shorthand button and a tooltip showing the full price. Repair mechanics remain unchanged.
- Apothic Table: Calculates costs from the deterministic list of offered enchantments. Prices are transmitted to the client using four 16-bit words per option. The server recalculates and validates costs before enchanting. Tooltips display XP point costs and turn red when the player cannot afford them. Existing lapis requirements, power and level requirements, and infusion recipes remain intact. Infusion recipes retain their original XP costs because they do not increase enchantment levels.
- Anvil: Applies XP-based pricing to new enchantments and upgrades, including the removal check. Renaming and repairs without enchantment upgrades retain the original Apothic cost. Material consumption, anvil wear, and NeoForge hooks are preserved.
- Creative Mode: Enchantment operations remain free.
Technical Details
The system reuses the original offer-generation logic of the Apothic Table and calculates Infuser costs from the selected enchantments. XP balance checks use Minecraft's standard player-level formula, while deductions use binary search to avoid loops proportional to the number of XP points involved.
Calculations use 64-bit integers to support high costs safely. The historical totalExperience field is not used to determine the player's available XP balance.
Scope: The mod implements XP-based enchantment progression and pricing, extended enchantment levels, and compatibility with Apotheosis bonuses. It does not include XP farm production measurements, rate calculations, or periodic monitoring tasks.
