Curse Maven Snippet
⚒️ Anvil Disenchanting
You finally crafted the perfect sword. Sharpness V, Looting III, Unbreaking III.
Now you found an even better one — and all those enchantments are just... gone forever.
Not anymore.
Anvil Disenchanting lets you pull enchantments off any item and save them onto a book, all from the comfort of your trusty Anvil. No new blocks to craft, no complicated mechanics to learn — just open your Anvil and get your enchantments back.
✨ What Can You Do?
📘 Strip Enchantments onto a Book
Place your enchanted item and a plain Book into an Anvil. Out comes an Enchanted Book with all of those enchantments ready to be reused. Your original item (now unenchanted) is returned to you as well — nothing wasted!
Perfect for: upgrading to a better item, changing your playstyle, or just keeping a backup of your best enchantments.
📚 Combine Enchantments with an Existing Book
Already have an Enchanted Book and want to add more to it? Throw your enchanted item in with the book instead. The mod will merge all enchantments together into one combined book.
- Same enchantment, same level on both? → Level goes up by 1 (up to the maximum)
- Same enchantment, different levels? → The higher level wins
- Everything else? → All of it is kept
Perfect for: building one mega-book with every enchantment you've collected across your adventures.
🔁 Get Your Item Back
After disenchanting, your original item is automatically placed back in your inventory (stripped of its enchantments, of course). If your inventory is full, it'll be dropped right at your feet. Nothing disappears.
⚙️ Configurable to Your Liking
Every server and modpack is different, so Anvil Disenchanting is fully configurable:
| Setting | Default | What it Does |
|---|---|---|
| Experience Cost Factor | 1.0x |
Multiply the XP cost up or down. 0.5 = half price, 2.0 = double price, 0.0 = free! |
| Fixed Experience Cost | Off | Lock the XP cost to a specific flat number of levels for every disenchant, no matter what enchantments are involved. |
| Return Original Item | On | Turn this off if you want disenchanting to feel more risky — the item gets consumed rather than returned. |
You can tweak these in the config file or through the in-game config screen.
🎮 How To Use It (Step by Step)
- Build or find an Anvil
- Put your enchanted item in the left slot
- Put a Book (or Enchanted Book) in the right slot
- See the result in the output slot
- Pay the XP cost and grab your shiny new Enchanted Book!
That's it. No new crafting recipes, no new items, nothing to memorize.

❓ Common Questions
Does it work with enchantments from other mods?
Yes! Any enchantment on any item will be transferred, including those added by other mods.
Will I lose my item when disenchanting?
No — by default your item is returned to you unenchanted. You can change this in the config if you want a more punishing experience.
Does it work on servers?
Absolutely. Install it on the server and it works for everyone.
