Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
v0.7
New job: Repairer
- Pick Repairer under Change job, give it the material (iron ingots, diamonds, leather...: it goes into its inventory, it needs no tool) and put an anvil near its work chest (or its home). It repairs the damaged tools, weapons and armor you give it or put in its work chest, one at a time; then the worn-out tools of your other allays (it gives them back once repaired).
- Cheaper than an anvil: one piece of the item's own material repairs half of it, with no XP cost, and the "too expensive" cost never grows. It never combines two items, and never wears the anvil down.
- But it takes time: two in-game hours for every level an anvil would charge for the same repair (one per material, the item's prior-work penalty, and its enchantments as an anvil prices them). A plain iron sword takes a few hours; a well-enchanted diamond tool takes a day or two. Diamond and netherite take a little longer; leather, wood and gold a little less. Sleeping through the night counts.
- The repair keeps going while you're away. The durability bar fills as the days pass, its screen shows how long is left, and you get a chat message when it starts (with the time it'll take) and when it's done.
- Blacksmith look: a linen shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a leather apron, heavy gloves and brass goggles on its forehead, all sooty (the Halloween costume wins during Halloween). At the anvil it holds an oversize hammer in both hands.
- Hard work, like a pro: it hovers right at the anvil and works in sets of 10 blows, each set a different style picked at random: heavy full-body blows, lighter taps, a cartoon leap with hang-time, a spin, or a toss (the hammer thrown up spinning, caught and brought straight down). Between sets it turns the item on the anvil with a pair of tongs, then rests on its hammer, stretches its back, twirls the hammer, or heats the item in a lava cauldron that pops up nearby, and the next blows throw extra sparks until it cools.
- Every blow lands with a clang of the anvil (high for a tap, deep for a cartoon blow), a white flash, sparks and dust.
New job: Carrier
- Pick Carrier under Change job and put what it should carry in its slot (Inventory tab): a light (torch, lantern...) to light your way, or a station (chest, furnace, crafting table, anvil...) you can use wherever you are. It comes along with you.
- This is now the way to give an allay a light or a station to hold.
Tools never break
- Every job with a tool now has a work slot on the Inventory tab, named for its tool (Axe, Hoe, Pickaxe...). Empty, the allay takes a tool from its inventory, else from its work chest. It only takes the tool out while it uses it.
- Tools never break: worn down, the tool is put away in its inventory and a spare takes its place. With a Repairer of yours within 48 blocks, the allay flies the worn tool over to be mended and brings it back.
- A job is only changed by picking another one: a missing or worn-out tool never ends it, the allay just waits.
Simpler jobs
- Job settings are gone: every job works the way it always did (its whole area, all day, every crop, ore and tree, replanting...). The Job page is gone too: the job line and Change job are on the Allay tab, the tool and work chest on the Inventory tab.
- A work chest is optional. Without one, a full allay brings what it gathered to you when you're within 32 blocks (else it waits).
- The Miner can also work at home: it mines the ore it can see around its home, and fills its work chest.
- Helmet slot: a carved pumpkin there puts on its Halloween costume.
Messages
- Allays now speak in little speech bubbles in their own colours, floating over them (or over what they're talking about), instead of the action bar. Game notices show in a small box. When the allay is out of view, its bubble waits at the edge of the screen with an arrow, and gets smaller with distance.
Your allays
- A Filter button: show only the allays with you, those that need you, those inside or in a jar, or by job or kind.
- An allay that dies is taken off the list.
Fixes
- Monsters the Undead Allay kills with its sword now drop XP (arrow and skull kills already did).
- Halloween now actually starts on its dates (Oct 20 – Nov 3): allays put on their costumes and the nightmare can visit you as you fall asleep. Before, the date was never checked, so neither happened unless you gave an allay a carved pumpkin or used
/allayfolks nightmare.
