Vertical Slabs

This mod adds vertical slab variants for all vanilla slab blocks plus concrete, terracotta, and snow — and automatically detects modded slabs from other mods in your modpack.

Place vertical slabs on any side of a block using the intuitive zone-based placement system. When holding a vertical slab, a visual overlay appears on the block face you're looking at, showing exactly where your slab will go. Point at the left or right zones to place perpendicular slabs, or the center zone on side faces to place flat against the surface. Dead zones are marked in red so you always know what's valid.

Two different vertical slabs can share the same block space. Place a stone vertical slab on one side and an oak planks vertical slab on the other — they combine into a single block, opening up design possibilities that weren't possible before. Breaking a double slab only removes the half you're pointing at, dropping the correct item while leaving the other half intact.

Each vertical slab inherits the mining speed of its parent block. Stone vertical slabs mine like stone, wood vertical slabs mine like wood. They drop themselves when broken, complete with break sounds and particles matching the original material.

Recipes follow vanilla conventions: one block in the stonecutter yields two vertical slabs, or three blocks in a vertical column on the crafting table yields six.

Modded slab support is automatic. On first launch the mod scans your modpack for blocks that have slab variants and generates the necessary resources. After a restart, those modded vertical slabs appear in JEI with full recipe and texture support. No configuration needed.
