AI Improvements, Hivemind

Hostile mobs grow smarter as your world ages — they learn your tactics, lay sieges, and dig, build, and bridge to reach you.

HIVEMIND

The longer your world lives, the smarter the things in the dark become.

Hivemind turns hostile mobs from a static obstacle into a learning, escalating threat. Two forces stack on top of vanilla AI: a global Threat that climbs as your world ages, and an adaptation layer that reacts to how you fight. There are no new mobs, blocks, or models to learn; every change happens inside the AI of the mobs you already know. It is light, server-friendly, and works in every biome, in every dimension.

THE THREAT SYSTEM

A single global Threat tier rises over time and with what you do:

- Days survived. The clock never stops.
- Hostile kills, advancements, depth reached, and your deaths all push it higher.

The Threat is unbounded; it keeps climbing for as long as your world lives. A small HUD in the top-left shows your current Threat and progress to the next tier, and a short message warns you each time the horde grows wiser.

As the tier rises, mobs unlock new abilities:

- Threat 1: Mobs call nearby reinforcements when they find you.
- Threat 2: Wounded mobs retreat instead of feeding you easy kills.
- Threat 3: Mobs lure nearby creepers toward you when you are hard to reach.
- Threat 15: Zombies break blocks to dig their way to you.
- Threat 25: Zombies build (staircases, pillars and bridges) and start to coordinate.

Mobs also get gradually faster and gain reach as the Threat climbs, capped so the game stays fair.

THEY ADAPT TO YOU

The hive watches how you win fights (bow, blade, fire, water, fall damage, shields, thrown potions, fighting at night) and leans into what you rely on. Lean too hard on one trick and the horde stops letting it work.

SIEGE BEHAVIOR

When you think you are safe (perched on a tower, walled in, or hiding underground) the hive comes for you:

- Real digging. Zombies break blocks at true, vanilla-accurate speeds. Give a zombie a shovel and it tears through dirt; a pickaxe and it rips through stone. The right tool for the block is much faster.
- They build. Out of their own dirt, zombies raise pillars, lay bridges across gaps, and cut walkable staircases up to a perch so the rest of the horde can follow them up.
- Roles. Armored mobs push to the front line and shield the diggers behind them. When several zombies are near the same block, the best-equipped one does the digging instead of everyone piling on.
- Creeper artillery. Out of reach on a pillar? A zombie will go fetch a creeper and send it your way.
- They only siege when they genuinely cannot reach you. Stand and fight in the open and they will just fight.

Creative and Spectator players are always left alone.

COMPATIBILITY

- Forge. Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.19.2, 1.18.2.
- Works client and server (required on both).
- No custom entities or models; pure AI and logic, so it is light and plays nicely with most mob and biome mods.
- Install: drop the jar for your exact Minecraft version into the mods folder. One jar per version; a 1.20.1 jar will not load on 1.18.2.

Survive long enough and you will not be hunting them anymore. They will be hunting you.
