Agrypnia is a client-side and server-side psychological and cognitohazard mod for Minecraft that simulates the subtle, unsettling effects of severe sleep deprivation. Rather than relying on cheap jumpscares or loud monsters, Agrypnia slowly warps your perception of the world around you, making you second-guess your own senses as you stay awake through the nights.
Agrypnia will never be done, so expect changes to happen in the future. Also expect bugs & glitches. If you experience these, please let me know, and I'll eventually fix them.
Every version of Agrypnia is tested thoroughly before being released to avoid severe problems.
Features
Visual Vitals Hallucinations: Your health and hunger bars lie to you. You may suddenly appear near death or starving, only for your real stats to return when you attempt to eat or take real damage.
Mined Ore Respawns: Break a vein of ores and walk away, only to look back and find the ores fully restored while the resources you just gathered vanish from your inventory.
Block Shifting: Placed blocks around your base might discreetly move when you turn your back. Interacting with, mining, or walking into a shifted block causes it to snap back to its true position.
Inventory Shuffling: Items inside your hotbar and inventory silently swap places while you are distracted.
Unsettling Auditory Illusions: Hear footsteps, breaking stone, ambient monster snarls, or subtle player sounds echoing just out of your line of sight.
The sleep-deprivation check is server-side so it can actually prevent sleeping. In singleplayer, that runs in your integrated server; in multiplayer, the server must have Agrypnia installed for the sleep restriction to apply. Hostile mob hallucinations don't work right now. Turn it off to prevent lag.
Customization
Agrypnia features an in-game configuration menu accessible at any time (Default key: H). Every hallucination type can be individually toggled ON or OFF, and you can adjust both the Frequency (how often reality breaks) and Intensity (the strength of the horror effects) to fit your personal playstyle.
Compatibility and Setup
Version: Minecraft Java 1.20.1
Loader: Fabric
Environment: Client-side only (works on multiplayer servers without needing the server to install it)
