What's new

Aeon Arsenal 3.0.0-beta introduces faction-based warfare: four factions, each with its own weapons, armour, abilities and combat style, replace the shared arsenal.

Beta status: This release is playable, but development is ongoing. Please report bugs and gameplay issues through the feedback form or Discord. Both links are available at the top of the main menu and pause menu.

Requirements

  • Minecraft: 26.3

  • Fabric Loader: 0.19.5 or later

  • Fabric API: 0.161.0 or later

  • GeckoLib: 5.5.6 or later, below version 6

  • Java: 25

Four factions

Choose a faction to determine which equipment you can use. Faction restrictions are enforced by the server for firing, reloading, throwing and placing equipment. NEXUS also prevents purchases of another faction's gear.

Name tags display faction identifiers: [AEON], [DEV], [VRD] and [PHX]. Faction abilities use Z and H, with a HUD meter showing their resource costs.

Aeon Corporation

The equipped army, with Tactical Uplink to scan the area and mark priority targets.

  • Deployable support: Guardian Sentry, Wasp Recon drone, Medivac Unit, NEXUS Beacon and Countermeasure Emitter.

  • New firearms include: the Spectre-7 rail pistol, whose fully charged shot penetrates thin cover; the 100-round MK-IV "Halo" LMG; and the AM-12 "Bulwark" battle rifle.

  • Aegis Baton: Parry a melee attack with a correctly timed block.

The Devourers

The hive uses Hunger as its resource. Scent marks prey for all nearby connected Devourers.

  • Infestation spreads across terrain, and fallen enemies can be devoured for Biomass.

  • Brood Pods serve as respawn anchors. Broodlings hunt marked targets.

  • The faction includes 16 firearms, four blades, Molt armour, mutations and the three-phase Matriarch encounter.

Vrdagsja's Forces

The Choir relies on the Communion, a network formed by nearby operators that shares Psi. Fighting together strengthens the group; isolated operators run out of Psi.

  • Abilities: Attunement, Psionic Sight, Mind Spike, Phase Step and Usurp. Usurp temporarily takes control of an enemy machine and always returns it afterwards.

  • Equipment: 13 new firearms, three blades and Wards worn over Kevlar.

  • Progression and encounter: Ranks from Listener to Choirmaster, and Vrdagsja, the First Voice.

New Phoenix

Every weapon builds Heat and cooks off exactly at its heat ceiling, never at random. Kindling stacks on burning targets, while Fury powers Vent, Second Wind, Flare and Flashpoint.

  • Equipment: 16 improvised firearms, four blades, Burn Coats, IEDs and sabotage charges.

  • Faction features: Hidden caches, the Kiln and a boss encounter at the Shrine with the First Kindled.

Armour

  • Kevlar: Three tiers, each with four pieces. Kevlar protects against bullets only, and its condition decreases with every round it absorbs. The HUD displays the remaining condition.

  • Faction armour: Each faction issues a starter set once and has its own armour line, including Wards, Burn Coats and Molt armour.

Combat

  • Automatic fire: Each round now registers damage. Minecraft's half-second invulnerability period previously prevented most rounds in a burst from dealing damage. Weapon statistics were unchanged.

  • Hit reactions: A successful hit slows the target for half a second. Hits that deal at least six hearts of damage also trigger a distinct sound heard only by the player who was hit.

  • Recoil and muzzle flashes: Each weapon has its own recoil profile and muzzle flash.

  • Blood effects: Rounds stopped by armour produce no blood. Stains run down walls and leave trails, with a limit per block face to prevent accumulation.

  • A-CG4 Miasma: A gas grenade for area denial. Damage increases with exposure: the longer a target remains in the cloud, the more severe the effect.

Arsenal retirement and upgrades

  • Retired equipment: The 12 pre-faction firearms, generic knives, A-FL12 flamethrower and their magazines are no longer issued. Retired items in survival inventories are removed and refunded in Arsenal Credits at their NEXUS value, including any ammunition loaded in them.

  • Weapon finishes: Finishes have moved with the weapons. There are now 367 weapon finishes and 171 blade finishes. Armory and Skin Cases draw only from your faction's pool, and revealed finishes are applied directly to your own weapon.

  • Weapon Workbench: Every faction firearm has its own upgrade tree. Fitted suppressors now function correctly, and thrown devices support modules. The workbench warns you when a weapon belongs to another faction before you spend resources on it.

Sound and music

  • Dynamic combat music: Nine original tracks activate as a fight builds, during an ambush, or after roughly one second of sustained firing. A single shot does not trigger combat music. Minecraft's music fades out during combat and returns afterwards; prolonged fights transition between tracks.

  • Combat music settings: NEXUS Command → Settings provides an on/off toggle, volume control, fade duration and activation frequency: Cinematic, Balanced or Frequent.

  • Main menu music: The musical-note button on the title screen cycles through all 11 tracks and remembers your selection.

  • Weapon audio review: Every weapon sound was checked against its weapon. Several playback levels were corrected, and unused preview assets are no longer included.

Interface

  • 3D wiki — default key I: An in-game knowledge database with models you can rotate and zoom. Press Y to pin a reference to the HUD while playing.

  • Faction callouts — default key ;: A quick menu of short radio lines audible to your own faction.

  • NEXUS Intelligence: Contextual mission briefings and short field transmissions. Disabled by default; a server owner must enable it using their own key.

  • Targeted chat notifications: Personal milestones are shown to the player, faction achievements to the faction, and rare reveals to nearby players instead of the entire server.

Known issues

  • Burst fire after switching: Switching hotbar slots mid-burst still allows one additional round to fire. Changing dimensions during a burst causes the remaining burst to complete.

  • Damage direction marker: After fall damage, the marker may retain an earlier damage bearing.

  • Combat music tuning: Volume levels and timings were set through measurement, without listening-based tuning. If the music is too loud, triggers too readily or responds too slowly, please report it and include the Frequency setting you used.

  • Main menu theme selection: The theme chooser cycles forward only.

  • Dedicated server testing: Large multiplayer sessions on dedicated servers have received limited testing. Reports from live servers are a key part of this beta.

Existing worlds

No migration is required, and no IDs in the mod have changed. Operator Records retain their ranks and unlocks. Retired equipment is refunded as described above, and saved loadouts skip slots containing equipment that NEXUS no longer issues.

You will be prompted to choose a faction the first time you join. You can transfer to another faction later.
