What's new
Action Menu 2.2.0 — Changes since 1.1.0
This release includes all changes since the previous public release, 1.1.0.
Controls and navigation
-
Added optional Hold Mode: hold the menu key, select an action, and release to run it once. The existing interaction is now called Click Mode and remains the default.
-
Changed the default menu key from Tab to R for new installations. Existing bindings are preserved.
-
In Click Mode, pressing the menu key again closes the wheel. Holding or repeating the closing press cannot immediately reopen it.
-
Replaced the fixed ten-button layout with 1–20 configurable buttons, keeping 10 as the default. Reducing the count preserves hidden names and commands.
-
Added mouse-wheel selection with wraparound. The selected action remains active until the pointer moves.
-
Added direction-based selection beyond the visible wheel’s edge.
-
Added Enter to run the highlighted action in Click Mode. Number shortcuts respect the visible button count: 1–9 and 0 run actions in Click Mode and select them in Hold Mode.
-
Added Menu Preferences for button count, control mode, and menu binding. Bind keyboard keys, the middle mouse button, or mouse side buttons, with conflict feedback and Reset to R.
-
Added compact numbered labels for larger wheels and adapted settings pagination to the button count, including support for one-button and two-button wheels.
-
Changed the Japanese key-binding category name to ActionMenu and updated English/Japanese control hints.
Appearance customization
-
Added Settings → Appearance, with color, size/opacity, background, and preview pages.
-
Added a global button color, individual button color overrides, and an independent highlight color. All three controls include matching six-color presets and color-code input.
-
Added wheel opacity from 0–100%, wheel size from 50–150%, and wheel text size from 50–200%.
-
Added local PNG/JPEG backgrounds through drag and drop or path input, with independent image opacity.
-
Added Saved images to preview and reuse previously imported backgrounds without creating additional copies.
-
Added Save, Cancel, and appearance-only Defaults. Previewing never executes commands, and the previous appearance remains the default.
Performance and reliability
-
Reworked wheel rendering to use a shared texture atlas and reused layout calculations, reducing repeated drawing and layout work.
-
Improved menu-key polling and cached scancode lookups to avoid repeated input-resolution work.
-
Moved image decoding, resizing, and opacity preparation off the rendering thread and reused the prepared background texture.
-
Limited image import size and dimensions, preserved aspect ratio and transparency, and removed original metadata from imported copies.
-
Prevented a held menu key from entering repeated characters into a slot editor. Release it once to type normally, including when using a custom binding.
-
Added Hold Mode cancellation for Esc, closing, losing window focus, and entering settings or an editor. A single release cannot execute the action twice.
-
Kept Settings and Close buttons accessible when selecting actions beyond the wheel.
