Description
Overview
The Orestorm Fortune Pickaxe is a powerful, glinting netherite pickaxe that:
- Mines up to nine blocks at once in a 3×3 plane.
- Uses a selectable Fortune level from 0 to 10.
- Applies the selected Fortune level to every block broken in the plane.
- Mines extremely quickly.
- Has a maximum stack size of one.
How To Use
Change Fortune
With the pickaxe in hand, sneak and right-click:
- Each use increases the Fortune setting by one.
- After Fortune 10, the next use returns it to Fortune 0.
- Fortune 0 means no Fortune effect.
- The setting is stored on the individual pickaxe.
Right-clicking without sneaking does not change the setting, allowing normal interactions with blocks and other objects.
Mine a 3×3 Plane
Break the central block of the area you want to mine. The pickaxe then attempts to break the surrounding eight blocks in the plane determined by your view:
- Looking mostly horizontally mines a vertical 3×3 plane facing the direction you are looking.
- Looking steeply upward or downward mines a horizontal 3×3 plane.
Air blocks and bedrock are skipped, so the pickaxe may break fewer than nine blocks when the plane is incomplete.
Crafting And Obtaining
The recipe requires:
- 1 enchanting table
- 1 nether star
- 1 netherite pickaxe
- 1 netherite ingot
- 2 sticks
- 1 redstone ore
- 1 emerald ore
- 1 diamond ore
When you craft the pickaxe yourself, a brief forging display of enchantment sparks and a finishing burst appears around you.
Abilities And Mechanics
Fortune 0–10
The selected Fortune level is used as the normal Fortune enchantment when the pickaxe generates block drops. This applies to ores and other blocks whose vanilla drops support Fortune.
The same setting applies to the center block and every additional block broken in the 3×3 plane.
Durability
The pickaxe loses durability for each block actually broken:
- A single block costs one durability point.
- A full nine-block plane costs nine durability points.
- Air and bedrock do not add durability cost because they are skipped.
Progression And Strategy
- Set Fortune to 0 when you want standard drops.
- Use higher Fortune levels for Fortune-compatible ores and resource blocks.
- Mine while looking horizontally for walls, ore veins, and tunnels.
- Look sharply up or down when clearing floors and ceilings.
- Leave extra space around valuable blocks if you do not want the surrounding plane mined.
- Watch the durability bar when clearing large areas, since a full plane uses much more durability than a normal pickaxe swing.
