For this to work you need the Origins Mod.
Versions 0.6.2 and -10 respectively, or higher are required.
As for datapack version beta.0.17.0 I can't say the required versions for sure, just use the newest possible.
This is a Datapack, not a Mod. (Guide on installing a Datapack at the bottom of the page.)

Curse Types:
WM/IM: Curse is only active on a item or weapons when in the main hand
WO/IO: Curse is only active on a item or weapons when in the off hand
Armor: Curse is only active when the armor is worn
Curses:
WM/IM
Curse of Luck: when this curse is applied to a weponds or item it gives the user fortune when they kill an entity they get extra drops. However the price for this curse is you take 5X more damage.
Armor
Curse of Foresight: when this curse is applied to a helmet armor piece allows you to see into the future and avoid 5 hits of damage. however the price for this curse is you lose half you health and half of your armor points
WM/IM
Curse of Poison: when this curse is applied to an item or weapons the weapons or item when hitting an enemy does a little bit of poison damage. cost of this curse is for each hit you use the item or weapons for you take 3 hearts of true damage
WM/IM
Curse of Strength: when this curse is applied to an item or weapons it makes the item, or weapons have double its attack strength. cost you lose half of your health and half of your armor points.
WO/IO
Curse of Regeneration: when you have this cursed item or weapons in your off hand you get the regeneration effect. cost you take 6x damage.
Armor
Curse of Negative: when this curse is applied to your chest plate each time you are hit you give a negative effect to the attacker. cost you take 4x elemental damage (lightning, fire, water, rain, cactus, poison, withering)
Armor
Curse of Immune: When this curse is applied to your chest plate you become immune to all effects including positive.
Armor
Curse of Positive: when applied you get one random positive effect cost take 3x damage (edited)
WM/IM
Curse of Armor: When you right click on the item that is cursed you lose 6 hearts in return you heave armor points of all entity's around you including you.
How to Craft Curses:
By using your primary key bind you can craft curse books which are used to apply curses onto items. to do this follow the following screenshot example on how to make curses

Installation Guide for Datapacks
Singleplayer
1. Go into the Singleplayer menu.
2. Select the world and press "edit"
3. Click on "Open World Folder".
4. Open the "datapacks" Folder.
5. Put the zip file in there.
6. Installation complete.
Multiplayer / Server
1. Open the world folder of the World that you want the datapack in.
2. Open the "datapacks" folder.
3. Put the zip file in there.
4. Restart the Server or type the command /reload in chat. (For this kind of datapack a restart is required)
5. Installation complete.
