Skyblock Trading Rework

Skyblock Progression - Custom villager trades designed to restore access to normally unobtainable items and progression paths in Skyblock worlds while maintaining vanilla balance.

Skyblock Trading Rework

Skyblock Trading Rework is a complete villager and Wandering Trader economy designed for long-term Minecraft Skyblock worlds.

Traditional Skyblock progression often reaches dead ends because many blocks, resources, mobs, and restoration items depend on normal world generation. SBTR restores those missing progression paths through carefully designed custom villager trades while preserving the need for farms, infrastructure, automation, and meaningful resource costs.

The goal is not to make Skyblock easier.

The goal is to make it complete.

What Changed in 2.0

SBTR 2.0 is a full rebalance of the original datapack.

Every major villager profession and the Wandering Trader has been reviewed and redesigned around a clearer economic role.

The updated economy provides:

  • custom trades for all major villager professions
  • profession-specific resource and refinement roles
  • expanded access to otherwise unobtainable Skyblock resources
  • balanced progression paths for long-term survival worlds
  • redesigned Wandering Trader offers focused on restoration, rare materials, biomes, mobs, and ecosystems
  • new acquisition paths for building blocks, technical resources, and progression items
  • trade pricing, stock, selection groups, and availability designed around survival gameplay

SBTR 2.0 is intended to support progression without replacing the farms and infrastructure that make Skyblock rewarding.

Designed Alongside Skyblock Expeditions

SBTR 2.0 was designed alongside **Skyblock Expeditions**, a companion Fabric mod that adds renewable exploration through a separate Expedition dimension.

Skyblock Expeditions allows players to explore natural Overworld terrain, discover structures, and collect selected resources without restoring or replacing their permanent Skyblock Overworld.

Its return-rule system determines which ordinary Expedition-acquired resources may return to Skyblock.

The optional SBTR Return Preset in Skyblock Expeditions was designed specifically around the economy in SBTR 2.0. It protects villager profession roles by restricting resources that would otherwise bypass the trading economy, while still preserving legitimate generated Expedition loot and selected limited-return resources.

The shared design principle behind both projects is:

> Expeditions gather. Villagers refine. Skyblock builds.

Skyblock Expeditions is a separate project and is not required to use SBTR 2.0.

Design Philosophy

Skyblock should still reward building.

Farms should matter.

Infrastructure should matter.

Villagers should have meaningful roles.

SBTR does not simply hand players rare resources or remove the need to progress. Instead, it creates structured acquisition and refinement paths through the villager economy.

Raw or difficult-to-obtain materials can enter the economy through carefully selected trades, while individual professions retain clear identities and useful long-term roles.

The result is a Skyblock economy that remains challenging without becoming permanently blocked by missing world-generation resources.

Recommended Use

SBTR 2.0 is intended for:

  • custom Skyblock maps
  • void worlds
  • one-block or restricted-generation worlds
  • long-term multiplayer Skyblock servers
  • survival worlds where normal terrain generation is unavailable
  • players using Skyblock Expeditions with the SBTR Return Preset

Skyblock Expeditions is optional.

Players may use SBTR 2.0 by itself as a standalone villager-trade datapack.

Installation
