Horse Armor Upgrades is a Vanilla+ datapack designed to make horse companions more durable, reliable, and rewarding to equip throughout the survival progression.

No longer locked entirely behind structure loot RNG, horse armor now features a sequential crafting and smithing upgrade path. Every tier has also been rebalanced with better armor, toughness, and knockback resistance values.

Horse Armor can also now be enchanted with standard defensive enchantments using the Enchanting Table and Anvil.

• Feature: Leather Horse Armor has new crafting progression recipes:

Tiers between copper and diamond can now be crafted via a new Leather -> Copper -> Gold -> Iron -> Diamond recipe chain.

• Feature: Horse Armor values have been tweaked and generally provide more protection at lower tiers.
• Feature: Horse Armor can now be enchanted with the same enchantments as chestplate armor pieces.
• Feature: Dedicated horse_armor tag grouping all vanilla horse armor items.
• Feature: Automatic application of rebalanced Horse Armor modifiers to items in inventory or on horses.
