Attuned Equipment — Forge Your Legacy

Let your weapons and gear evolve as you use them. Unlock unique enchantments, preserve their history, repair and combine them, and turn every item into a true legend.

⚔️ Attuned Equipment — Forge Your Legacy

Attuned Equipment completely changes the relationship between players and their gear.

In vanilla Minecraft, a sword, pickaxe, armor piece, or tool is often replaced as soon as something better becomes available. With Attuned Equipment, your gear instead develops its own history. The more you use an item, the more it grows, records your actions, unlocks new possibilities, and becomes tied to your journey.

An old wooden sword that has been with you since the beginning can eventually become far more than a starter weapon. It can be reforged, evolve through multiple materials, gain enchantments based on the way you fight, and eventually become a legendary weapon carrying the marks of everything it has survived.

The main idea of the datapack is simple:

your best piece of equipment should not always be the newest one — it can be the one that has been with you the longest.

📖 Every Item Builds Its Own History

Supported items store their progression directly within the item itself.

This means that the history belongs to the equipment, not simply to the player.

Two identical diamond swords can therefore become completely different depending on how each one was used.

Attuned Equipment supports 12 major equipment categories:

Equipment Examples of Tracked Actions
⚔️ Sword attacks, kills, sprint attacks, dangerous fights, Nether enemies
⛏️ Pickaxe blocks mined, ores mined, stone mining, general usage
🪓 Axe wood cutting, tool usage, combat usage
🪏 Shovel digging, sand, snow and excavation
🌾 Hoe farming and crop-related activity
🏹 Bow shots fired and ranged combat behavior
🎯 Crossbow shots, long-term usage and mechanism specialization
🛡️ Shield attacks blocked, dangerous situations and defensive usage
⛑️ Helmet damage taken, projectiles, underwater exploration and critical situations
🥋 Chestplate impacts, fire, lava, explosions and survival
👖 Leggings walking, sprinting, sneaking and combat movement
👢 Boots movement, falls, sprinting and dangerous environments

The datapack does not simply count how many times an item has been used.

It also tries to understand how you used it.

⭐ Progress Through Multiple Stages

Most equipment types use several major historical milestones:

25 → 100 → 250 → 500 → 1000 uses or equipment experience.

These milestones progressively correspond to Evolution I, II, III, IV and V when the item has enough potential.

However, reaching a milestone does not simply grant a generic upgrade.

Each stage represents another chapter in the history of the item and can unlock a new historical enchantment, evolution stage, or reforge opportunity.

The longer an item stays with you, the more different it becomes from a newly crafted replacement.

🧬 An Item's Lineage Matters

Attuned Equipment especially rewards equipment that has been preserved since the early stages of a world.

Starting with basic gear and evolving it over time can allow it to achieve greater potential than equipment that was created directly from high-tier materials.

For example, a weapon can pass through an entire material lineage:

Wood → Stone → Copper → Iron → Diamond → Netherite

Its history, enchantments and progression can remain intact through supported reforges.

This allows you to keep the same item throughout a large part of your adventure instead of resetting your progress every time a new material becomes available.

On the other hand, equipment that starts directly at diamond level or another advanced tier may have a more limited evolution potential.

The system therefore rewards building a complete history for your gear.

🔨 Reforge Your Old Equipment

Attuned Equipment includes its own forging and upgrading system.

When the required conditions are met, equipment can be transformed into a better material while preserving the characteristics that make it unique.

For standard weapons and tools, early evolution stages may require both usage experience and specific materials.

A wooden weapon can eventually become stone. Stone can then progress to copper, followed by iron, diamond and Netherite.

Bows and crossbows also receive their own material progression, despite normally having no such upgrade system in vanilla Minecraft.

Shields can evolve through several materials as well, including copper, iron, diamond and Netherite.

With the associated resource pack, these evolutions can also receive their own visual appearance.

⚔️ Your Playstyle Influences Your Enchantments

One of the core features of Attuned Equipment is its system of adaptive historical enchantments.

Two players using the same weapon for the same amount of time may not receive the same upgrades.

The datapack evaluates the way the item was actually used.

A sword frequently used for sprint attacks may develop differently from one that has accumulated hundreds of kills.

A weapon often used while its owner is close to death can also follow another path.

Sword specializations can lead to enchantments such as Impact, Execution, Siphon, Infernal Blade, or Binding.

Over time, the item develops an identity based on the player's behavior.

Your sword may become focused on control, executions, survival, or even develop a specialization related to fighting creatures from the Nether.

⛏️ Tools Can Specialize Too

Progression is not limited to weapons.

A pickaxe used mainly for searching for ores does not necessarily develop the same way as one used to carve massive tunnels.

Possible upgrades include enchantments focused on excavation, endurance, interaction range, and efficiency tied to particular activities.

Axes can develop either toward woodcutting or combat.

Hoes can become specialized farming tools.

Shovels can improve their excavation abilities.

The goal is to make utility tools feel valuable and memorable as well.

🏹 Evolving Bows and Crossbows

Ranged equipment has its own historical progression.

A bow can gradually develop specializations related to accuracy, range, power and combat situations.

Custom enchantments such as Long Range allow ranged weapons to develop styles that do not exist through the standard vanilla enchantment system.

Crossbows also receive dedicated upgrades such as Quick Mechanism, Enhanced Piercing, and different Siege variants.

Some enchantments are intentionally incompatible with each other in order to create meaningful specialization choices instead of allowing every item to automatically contain every available upgrade.

🛡️ A Full Shield Evolution System

Shields receive a much deeper progression system than in vanilla Minecraft.

The datapack tracks blocked attacks as well as certain high-risk situations.

Major shield evolutions can require hundreds of successful blocks alongside additional conditions.

An experienced shield can develop unique defensive powers.

Quick Guard, for example, can temporarily improve mobility while blocking, while Living Bulwark can briefly grant Resistance.

At its highest level, a Netherite shield meeting the required conditions can unlock Bastion's Call.

When triggered, two Iron Golem guardians can temporarily answer your block and defend you.

This ability uses a cooldown in order to remain a powerful reward without becoming a permanent summon mechanic.

🛡️ Every Armor Piece Learns Differently

Armor does not progress as one uniform set.

Each slot observes different aspects of gameplay.

The helmet may learn from projectile damage, underwater exploration and dangerous situations.

The chestplate is more closely tied to impacts, explosions, fire and survival.

Leggings track the way you move, including walking, sprinting, sneaking and combat movement.

Boots naturally focus on movement, falling, sprinting and dangerous terrain.

This allows every armor piece to develop its own identity.

Historical armor enchantments can include abilities such as Deep Breath, Abyssal Vision, Second Wind, Burning Guard, Shadow Step, Long Stride, Sure Footing, and Ember Step.

💎 Mastery Rewards Long-Term Use

Using the same equipment for a long time can also build different levels of familiarity and mastery.

Weapons, tools, ranged gear, armor and shields have their own forms of mastery.

These improvements can increase effectiveness, improve certain characteristics, or gradually reduce durability loss depending on the Minecraft version.

Once again, the goal is to reward keeping historical equipment instead of replacing it constantly.

☠️ Your Enemies Can Leave Permanent Marks

Attuned Equipment can also track specific enemy types defeated by an item.

Defeating large numbers of the same category of creature can eventually add another specialization to a weapon.

For example, reaching particularly high kill statistics against certain creatures can unlock masteries such as Bane of the Infected, Bonebreaker, Cold Blood, Void Hunter, or Flamebreaker.

These rewards are intended for equipment that has truly survived a long adventure.

Some require several hundred kills, while others may require as many as 1000 defeated enemies.

🐉 Major Victories Become Part of the Weapon's History

Some creatures are not treated as ordinary kills.

Landing the final blow on a major boss or legendary enemy with an Attuned weapon can permanently record that achievement in its history.

A weapon that defeats the Ender Dragon can gain a legacy tied to that victory.

The Wither, Warden, and Elder Guardian can also leave their own historical marks.

This turns major Minecraft battles into permanent memories attached directly to the equipment that won them.

Over time, your weapon effectively becomes a journal of your world, written directly into the item.

🔷 An Anvil Designed Around Item History

Anvils play an important role in Attuned Equipment.

An anvil can function as an Attuned station, allowing you to inspect and prepare available equipment evolutions.

The interface can display the next available milestone along with its experience and lapis cost.

Early historical stages generally cost around 3 experience levels, while higher evolutions usually cost 4 levels.

The exact lapis requirement depends on the upgrade and is displayed through the interface.

Once a milestone has been paid for, it does not need to be purchased again.

The system also uses historical markers and catalyst mechanics to ensure that unlocked enchantments are applied to the correct item without destroying its stored data.

Damage, history and existing enchantments are designed to remain preserved through supported upgrades.

✨ An Expanded Enchanting Table

The enchanting table also becomes part of the system.

Alongside vanilla enchantments, Attuned Equipment gives access to several categories of custom upgrades for tools, combat, ranged weapons and defensive equipment.

These include enchantments related to excavation, interaction range, endurance, melee combat, projectiles and shields.

Some rare enchantments remain intentionally more difficult to obtain.

Attuned books can also appear in structure loot or through certain villager trades.

This keeps exploration meaningful even after you have already started developing your own historical equipment.

📚 Tomes That Improve the Player

Attuned Equipment does not only improve items.

Special tomes can also gradually improve the player.

The Tome of Vitality contains five levels and can progressively increase maximum health by up to 5 additional hearts.

The Tome of Vigor contains three levels and can gradually improve movement speed by up to roughly +6%.

The Tome of Dexterity contains three levels and can increase mining speed by up to roughly +15%.

Each upgrade requires lapis and experience, with higher levels becoming progressively more expensive.

These bonuses represent the player evolving alongside their equipment.

🏷️ Equipment Can Develop a True Identity

At higher progression levels, certain items can also receive titles based on their history.

Instead of remaining simply a “Netherite Sword,” a weapon with a strong specialization can eventually become recognized for the path it has taken.

These titles reinforce the narrative aspect of the datapack.

Two pieces of equipment made from the same material can end up with completely different histories, specializations and identities.

🎨 Dedicated Resource Pack

Attuned Equipment includes a Resource Pack specifically designed for the datapack.

It is used to correctly display custom elements, interfaces and several equipment variants that do not exist in vanilla Minecraft.

Bows, crossbows, shields and several material evolutions can benefit from additional models and textures.

The resource pack is strongly recommended for the full experience.

It is available separately and a copy is also included inside the datapack archive as resources.zip.

🌍 Progression Built Around Vanilla Minecraft

Attuned Equipment is designed to expand Minecraft without completely replacing the vanilla gameplay loop.

Vanilla resources remain important.

Lapis still matters for enchanting.

Experience remains an essential currency.

Ores are used for reforging.

Netherite remains an endgame evolution.

Exploration, villagers, structures, combat, mining and farming all contribute to progression.

The datapack therefore adds a deeper equipment progression layer on top of Minecraft's existing systems rather than replacing them.

🔧 Compatibility

Attuned Equipment v0.16.1 is designed for Minecraft Java Edition.

This edition supports the full Minecraft 1.21.x family, from 1.21 through 1.21.11, using an overlay system that adapts certain mechanics to differences between versions.

No mod is required.

Simply place the datapack inside your world's datapacks folder and use the associated Resource Pack for custom visuals.

The datapack is designed to automatically adapt several mechanics to differences across Minecraft 1.21.x versions, including item formats, enchantment-related systems and features introduced in later updates.

⚔️ More Than Equipment — Your Story

Attuned Equipment is designed for players who enjoy keeping their gear, building long-term progression and giving real identity to the items they use.

A sword can remember the hundreds of creatures it defeated.

A pickaxe can become the witness of thousands of mined blocks.

A shield can become a fortress capable of calling guardians.

An old suit of armor can gradually reflect every dangerous situation its owner survived.

You are no longer simply crafting a better weapon.

You are building a legend.

Use your equipment. Let it evolve. Leave your mark on its history. Unlock its potential. And turn the items that accompany you into true relics of your adventure.
