Chroma Valleys HD - A Complimentary Pack

Purpose:
A fan-made complementary texture pack for Chroma Hills HD, adding new textures and essential bug fixes for content introduced since the Chase the Skies update.

The pack is designed as an overlay, not a replacement. Anything Chroma Valleys does not need to change is allowed to fall through to Chroma Hills HD underneath it.

The final pack contains 1,641 files. Excluding its own manifest and icon, it has 1,518 new files and 121 modified paths, with zero files that are byte-for-byte identical to the untouched original Chroma Hills HD pack.

Chroma Valleys adds Chroma-style support for newer Minecraft content that was missing or incomplete in the original pack, including:

Baby Mob Overhaul

A major part of Chroma Valleys is repairing the way Chroma Hills HD baby textures display with newer Bedrock geometry and particularly with Actions & Stuff 1.11 SP0 / Custom Experience.

Several mobs required more than simply adding a smaller texture.

Wolf puppies

Corrected back/belly texture placement.

Corrected paw bottoms and body UVs.

Rebuilt puppy textures for all wolf variants.

Fixed tamed puppy collars.

Prevented collar dye from coloring the puppy's body and paws.

Redistributed neck/body artwork so the Actions & Stuff puppy geometry visually lines up with the HD texture.

Supports all nine tamed puppy variants.

Baby Strider

Repositioned all six side appendages/bristles using the adult Strider as the placement reference.

Mirrored the placement correctly across both sides.

Corrected the texture artwork used by those appendages.

Eliminated the final flickering/z-fighting without changing their approved position.

Panda cubs

Corrected back/belly UV orientation.

Rebuilt all seven variants.

Enlarged/refined facial appearance.

Raised the baby panda snout/nose geometry so it aligns more naturally with the adult design.

Polar Bear cub

Corrected eyes and side/body alignment.

Corrected paw/toe textures.

Restored eye-overlay appearance.

Increased eye size for a more consistent baby-mob look.

Separated eye and toe UV regions so corrections to one no longer damage the other.

Baby Piglin / Zombified Piglin

Corrected hand endcaps.

Corrected foot endcaps.

Fixed reversed left/right snout-side textures.

Villager

Removed the accidental white “B” artifact from the unskilled adult villager texture without replacing or redistributing the rest of the original Chroma Hills asset.

Chroma Valleys contains targeted geometry/entity/render-controller compatibility files for the Actions & Stuff 1.11 SP0 / Custom Experience configuration.

The goal is to retain the Chroma Hills visual style while allowing Actions & Stuff's custom models and animations to function without destroying texture alignment.

64x subpack cleanup

The lower-resolution subpack received a dedicated cleanup pass after artifacts appeared during 128x → 64x conversion.

The Sulfur Cube egg received an additional alpha-edge cleanup to remove the multicolored halo visible against the world and inventory background.

Chroma Hills fall-through compatibility

This was the final major fix that made the complementary format work correctly.

Chroma Valleys does not override broad global item/terrain catalogs simply because the full master did. Doing so caused the upper pack to intercept resources belonging to Chroma Hills and display Minecraft's pink/black missing-texture pattern.

The complementary pack now deliberately lets Chroma Hills provide its own existing assets for things such as:

This is an important part of what the pack does: it only takes priority where Chroma Valleys genuinely supplies a replacement or compatibility fix. Otherwise the original Chroma Hills texture comes through normally.

That also prevents the complementary pack from unnecessarily redistributing unchanged Chroma Hills assets.

Without an override from Chroma Valleys, Bedrock falls through to Chroma Hills normally.

Known limitation

One issue was determined to originate inside Actions & Stuff itself rather than Chroma Hills: lead/leash attachment positioning on some adult mobs, particularly the adult Bee/possibly Fox configuration when Actions & Stuff is active. Attempts to repair the Bee lead entirely from the Chroma Valleys resource layer were unsuccessful, so those experimental overrides were not included in the finished pack.

Everything else that reached the approved/locked state during the compatibility project is incorporated into this release.

That is essentially the complete story of what Chroma Valleys HD adds: newer Chroma-style content, a very large baby-mob compatibility overhaul, targeted Actions & Stuff repairs, resolution cleanup, and a clean fall-through system that leaves the original Chroma Hills HD assets alone whenever no override is necessary.
