Water World - Aquatic Survival

Today i am bringing you one of the most crazy and challenging survival addons i have ever made for minecraft bedrock edition. We have all been playing regular survival for years and it is always the same thing. You spawn in a world, you punch trees, you build a house on land and you avoid drowning in the ocean. Water is usually just an obstacle or a place to catch fish. But what if we completely reversed the rules of the game? What if the land was actually toxic to you and water was the only place you could breathe safely? So i sat down and coded the RR Water World behavior pack. This addon basically turns you into an aquatic creature or a fish. It completely changes how you play the game because now the ocean is your home and the land is your biggest enemy.

​The Reversed Breathing Mechanic

So let me explain exactly how this works because it is very punishing if you are not careful. The moment you load into the world your character gets infinite water breathing. You never have to worry about drowning in the ocean ever again. But the catch is that you can no longer breathe normal air. If you step out of the water and walk on land a hidden breath timer starts. You have exactly 15 seconds of air on land before you start suffocating.

​When your air starts getting low you will actually hear a loud heartbeat sound playing in your ears and a big red warning pops up on your actionbar saying BREATH LOW. If the 15 seconds run out the actionbar flashes DROWNING ON LAND and you start taking massive damage. You literally lose 2 whole hearts every 2 seconds. It drains your health incredibly fast. The only way to stop dying is to jump back into a river or an ocean. When you touch the water you will hear a refreshing gulp sound and the game tells you Ahh sweet water. Your land breath resets instantly. This means if you want to explore the overworld or chop wood you literally have to carry a water bucket with you everywhere and keep placing it down to breathe. It makes basic survival so intense and fun.

​Custom Starter Book And UI Menu

To help you track your stats i added a custom item that you get the very first time you join the world. It is a special RR Water World book. Do not throw this book away because it is your main menu. If you hold this book in your hand and sneak it opens a custom UI menu on your screen. This menu shows you exactly how many seconds of land air you have left in real time and it tells you your current status whether you are safe in water or dying on land. It also tracks your total lifetime seconds survived on the surface. I just put this menu in so you dont have to guess how much air you have before you start taking damage.

​Milestones And Land Rewards

Now you are probably thinking why would i even go on land if it kills me so fast. Well i added a whole milestone and reward system to encourage you to take risks. The longer you manage to survive on land without dying the more the game rewards you. If you manage to accumulate 60 seconds on land the game tells you that you are adapting. If you hit 5 minutes of total land survival you get the Amphibian title and 2 free iron ingots drop in your inventory. But if you grind and survive 10 minutes you get a diamond and a global server announcement. The ultimate goal is the 30 minute Legend milestone which gives you 3 emeralds and broadcasts to the whole realm that you are a survivor. It makes pushing your limits on land actually worth it.

​Survival Mode Lock

I also added a strict survival lock to this addon. Because this is meant to be a hardcore challenge i wrote a script that forces all players into survival mode. If you try to cheat and switch to creative mode to fly around and breathe on land, the game will instantly detect it and snap you back into survival mode. So there is no escaping the water world rules on your server.

​Beta APIs Setup

You guys already know what to do here. Because this pack uses the background scripts to calculate your exact land breath ticks and tracks your total survival time using dynamic properties, you absolutely must turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings. If you dont turn it on the reversed breathing will not work and the custom book menu wont open at all so please make sure that is checked.
