Originally developed as part of Classic Reborn PE, this standalone add-on restores the iconic old-school void fog experience without requiring a complete Minecraft overhaul.

What Is Void Fog?

In older versions of Minecraft, descending deep underground meant entering an increasingly dark and mysterious environment.

Your visibility would gradually decrease, the world around you would fade into darkness, and tiny suspended particles would appear in the deepest areas.

This simple feature made underground exploration feel completely different.

Even an ordinary cave could become unsettling. You could hear monsters approaching without immediately seeing them. Huge caverns seemed to disappear into an endless black void, and tunnels that were perfectly safe a moment ago suddenly felt much more dangerous.

Minecraft eventually moved away from this classic underground effect, but Void Fog BE brings the experience back to modern Bedrock!

Unlike an ordinary static fog texture, this add-on uses a dynamic system that responds to your depth and surrounding skylight.

The deeper you explore, the more intense the atmosphere becomes.

Three Customizable Void Fog Modes!

Choose between three different fog experiences directly from the resource pack settings!

1. Classic Void Fog | The Original Experience

This is the original fog configuration extracted from Classic Reborn PE, designed to recreate the atmosphere of older Minecraft.

• Fog gradually becomes thicker as you descend underground.

• Visibility starts closing in dramatically around Y26–27 in dark caves.

• The atmosphere becomes progressively darker toward Y0.

• Classic void particles appear deep underground.

• Skylight influences the visibility effect, giving exposed areas a different appearance from enclosed caves.

• Uses the original Classic Reborn fog calculations and visual settings.

Recommended for players who want the closest experience to classic Minecraft void fog!

2. Modern Bedrock Y Level | Classic Fog for Modern Worlds

Minecraft's underground world is much deeper than it used to be. Instead of ending around Y0, standard modern Overworld terrain extends down to Y-64.

This mode adapts the classic fog system to the modern world depth.

• Preserves the classic fog progression.

• Moves the effect downward to match modern Bedrock terrain.

• Visibility contracts heavily around Y-38 to -37 in dark caves.

• The deepest fog appears near Y-64.

• Classic particles follow the lower underground region.

• Ideal for players who want the effect concentrated around modern deep caves.

Recommended for players who prefer modern Minecraft world generation but miss the classic void fog effect!

3. Void Fog Extreme | Y70

Want an even darker and more mysterious Minecraft experience?

This mode dramatically expands the region affected by void fog.

Instead of waiting until you're approaching bedrock, the fog begins taking effect below Y70!

• Fog begins below Y70.

• Darkness and visibility reduction intensify as you descend.

• The deepest effect is reached around Y42.

• The system still responds to skylight.

• Creates a much larger fog-covered underground region.

• Makes even relatively shallow cave systems feel mysterious and intimidating.

Authentic Classic Void Particles

Fog isn't the only feature making a return!

Void Fog BE also restores the tiny suspended particles associated with Minecraft's old underground atmosphere.

These subtle particles appear throughout the affected depths, bringing additional movement and detail to otherwise dark and empty caves.

Rather than covering your screen with exaggerated horror effects, the particles are small and understated, helping recreate the familiar atmosphere of classic Minecraft.

Combined with the depth-sensitive fog, they make dark caves feel much more mysterious.

Dynamic Fog That Responds to Your Environment

Void Fog BE does more than apply one fog effect everywhere.

Its fog controller takes into account:

• Player height: Descending farther underground increases the effect.

• Skylight: Natural sky lighting influences fog visibility.

• Selected mode: Each of the three modes uses its own depth configuration.

• Game mode: The effect applies in Survival and Adventure, but not Creative or Spectator.

• Dimension: The system is designed for the Overworld.

Fog updates automatically as you explore. You don't need to enter commands, manually activate the fog, or constantly adjust your settings.

The add-on also preserves Minecraft's separate Nether, End, underwater, lava, and powder-snow fog effects instead of replacing them.

Installation Instructions

1. Download Void Fog BE v1.0.1.

2. Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

3. Open the settings for the world where you want to use the add-on.

4. Activate Void Fog BE under Behavior Packs.

5. Activate Void Fog BE under Resource Packs.

6. Select the Resource Pack settings (gear icon) to choose your preferred fog mode.

7. Load your world and explore underground!

Important: Both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack must be enabled for the effect to function.

After changing fog modes, leave and reload your world so the new resource configuration takes effect.

Compatibility and Important Information

Minimum Minecraft version: Bedrock Edition 1.21.120

Supported gameplay: Overworld Survival and Adventure.

Creative and Spectator: Void fog is automatically excluded.

Experiments and cheats: Not required.

Achievements: Achievement eligibility cannot be guaranteed when using this third-party behavior add-on.

Other fog add-ons: Packs that change fog may interfere with this system depending on their resource-pack priority and fog settings.

Classic Reborn compatibility: The full Classic Reborn PE already has its own fog controller. Using both add-ons together is not recommended because their fog systems may conflict.

Why I Released This Separately

Void Fog BE was originally part of my much larger Minecraft Bedrock add-on, Classic Reborn PE.

The goal of Classic Reborn was to recreate the classic Minecraft experience as faithfully as possible, combining older terrain, mobs, forgotten features, mechanics, visuals, and atmosphere into one complete add-on.

However, not everyone wants to completely overhaul their Minecraft world just to restore one old feature.

That's why I decided to release the void fog system separately!

Now players can experience one of the most memorable parts of classic Minecraft without needing to install the entire Classic Reborn overhaul.

Sometimes all it takes is a little darkness to make Minecraft feel like Minecraft again.
