
I am back today with a massive project that i have been working on for a very long time. If you play a lot of minecraft survival you probably know that the combat system gets really boring after you get diamond or netherite gear. You just hit things and they die. There is no real progression for your weapons except for the random enchanting table stuff. So I decided to completely change how combat works and add a heavy RPG feel to the game. I created the Weapon Evolution addon where your swords, axes, bows, crossbows and tridents actually level up as you get kills. It is not just a basic damage buff, your weapons actually learn magic abilities and change tiers the more you use them.
How the Evolution System Works
So the core mechanic of this pack is getting kills. Every time you kill a mob with a weapon, that specific weapon category gains XP. For example if you kill a zombie with a sword, your sword skill goes up. Higher tier mobs give way more XP. A simple zombie gives you 5 XP but killing a warden gives you 100 XP and the ender dragon gives you 200 XP. There are exactly 100 levels to grind. As you level up your weapon goes through 5 different tiers. It starts at Common, then goes to Uncommon, Rare, Epic and finally Legendary when you cross level 76. The game actually renames your weapon automatically in your inventory so it will say Legendary Sword Lv 80 right on the item. It also updates the lore of the item so you can hover over it and see exactly how much XP you need for the next level.

Unlocking Magic Abilities
This is where the addon gets crazy. I didnt want the weapons to just do more damage, i wanted them to feel magical. As you hit specific levels you unlock permanent abilities. At level 10 you unlock Fire Touch which gives you a 15 percent chance to set nearby enemies on fire when you kill a mob. At level 15 you unlock Life Steal so you actually heal yourself during fights. At level 25 you get Thunder Strike which literally strikes lightning on the mobs you kill. There are also passive buffs like XP Surge at level 35 which multiplies your XP gain so the grind gets easier. And if you have the patience to reach Level 100, you unlock the Ultimate Form. This doubles the power of every single ability you unlocked. The fire chance doubles, the lightning chance doubles and the life steal gets way stronger.
The Combo System and Multipliers
To make the combat feel fast paced I added a combo system. If you kill a mob you have a 5 second window to kill another one to start a combo. If you get a 5x combo you get an XP multiplier. If you get a 50x combo you get a massive 3x XP multiplier and a huge title on your screen saying Ultra Combo. It makes fighting hordes of zombies at night super rewarding because you level up so fast when you keep the chain going. But if you take too long or run away your combo resets back to zero so you have to be aggressive.
User Interface and Menus
I hate having to type commands to check my stats so I built a whole UI menu for this. All you have to do is hold a normal book in your hand and sneak. It opens the Weapon Evolution menu. From here you can check your exact level and XP for every single weapon category. You can also view a full list of abilities to see what you will unlock next. I also added a live server leaderboard in the menu. It tracks every player on the realm and ranks them based on their highest weapon level, their total kills and their best combo. So you can actually compete with your friends to see who is the ultimate weapon master on the server.
Particles and Easter Eggs
I wanted the high level weapons to look cool even when you are just walking around. So if your weapon is level 25 or higher it starts emitting flame particles. At level 50 it emits enchanting table letters. And at level 75 it drops end rod sparkles everywhere you go. Other players will know immediately that you are holding a legendary weapon just by looking at you. I also hid some funny easter eggs in the level up system. When you hit level 69 or 420 the game sends you a funny private message. If you hit level 666 it announces to the whole server that your weapon hungers.

Beta APIs Setup
Because this behavior pack relies heavily on custom scripts to track weapon XP individually, manage the combo timers, and display the UI menus, you absolutely have to turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings. If you dont toggle this on before you load the world the scripts will fail and your weapons will never gain any XP. So please remember to check your settings or you will be very confused.
