All notable changes to the Realistic Explosions project are documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog, and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[4.0.0] - 2026-10-18

Critical Fixes & Stability

  • Startup Crash Prevention (customCommandRegistry): Added a safe null-guard (if (customCommandRegistry?.registerCommand)) wrapped in try/catch inside system.beforeEvents.startup. Prevents unhandled TypeError exceptions on Bedrock environments where experimental Custom Commands are disabled, guaranteeing custom block component registration (ue:scorch_tick) succeeds unconditionally.
  • Survival Chat Spam Elimination:
    • Removed player broadcast message on first spawn (v1.20.0 loaded...), replacing it with a silent console.log.
    • Removed automatic debug chat broadcast in playExplosionSound on first blast (which previously sent sound ID, volume, mode, and /scriptevent ue:soundtest instructions).
    • Routed soundError exceptions to console.warn instead of printing red error text directly to the player's in-game chat.
    • Sanitized /scriptevent ue:soundtest chat messages into concise diagnostic feedback.
  • Native Equippable Performance Optimization:
    • Replaced console command executions (replaceitem entity @s slot.weapon.mainhand 0 <typeId>) in launchGroups and rollTest with native @minecraft/server Script API: ent.getComponent("minecraft:equippable")?.setEquipment("Mainhand", new ItemStack(typeId, 1)). Falls back to /replaceitem only if the component is unavailable, significantly reducing tick lag during large multi-chunk detonations.
  • Code Comment Sanitization (Antislop Standard):
    • Stripped 14 decorative banner separators (// ---------------- ALL CAPS) and replaced them with standard single-line section headers.
    • Removed historical troubleshooting narration and stale debugging references across scripts/main.js.
    • Fully preserved all mathematical formulas (Rodrigues 3D rigid-body rotation), Bedrock physics constraints, and performance-critical generator slicing logic.

Manifest & Packaging

  • Version Number Synchronization:
    • Updated Behavior Pack (Realistic Explosions BP/manifest.json) header version to [4, 0, 0].
    • Updated Resource Pack (Realistic Explosions RP/manifest.json) header version to [4, 0, 0].
    • Synchronized inter-pack module dependency UUID references to version [4, 0, 0].
    • Packaged and verified integrity for Realistic_Explosion_v4.mcaddon and Realistic_Explosion_v4.zip (5.5 MB).

Features & Systems Overview

  • Multi-Layered Particle Fireballs: 13 blast styles (Base, Core I–VII, Artillery VIII, Missile IX, RPG X, Mortar XI, Thermobaric XII) with automatic dimension and terrain adaptation.
  • 3D Rigid-Body Flying Debris: Ballistic flight arcs with multi-block structural grouping and 3D Rodrigues tumbling around center of mass.
  • Scorched Terrain & Soot Weathering: Material classification (flammable wood vs. charring non-flammable stone/earth/brick), water/rain fire extinguishing, and next-day weathering into 8-stage stackable soot layers (ue:soot_layer).
  • PBR Shading Support: Full Metallic, Emissive, Roughness (.tga) and Height (_h.png) texture maps across all custom block families for RTX Ray Tracing and Deferred Lighting (Vibrant Visuals).
  • Structural Collapse: Dynamic underground rock cave-ins and mountain cliff edge slab fractures (20–45 blocks per piece).
  • Multi-Distance Spatial Audio: 78 Vorbis mono 44.1 kHz sound files mapped into close, mid, and distant tiers with speed-of-sound propagation delay.
  • In-Game Settings Menu: /ue:settings GUI modal form for real-time client and server effect configuration.
