Offhand Freedom
Offhand Freedom adds functional Java-style offhand gameplay using normal vanilla items, quick controls, block placement, buckets, projectiles, and dynamic lighting.
Features
- Vanilla Items Only: No custom items or crafting recipes.
- Quick Hand Swapping: Double crouch to move an item between your main hand and offhand.
- Block Placement: Place many supported blocks directly from your offhand.
- Dynamic Lighting: Supported glowing items produce light while held.
- Bucket Support: Use water, lava, powder snow, fish buckets, and empty buckets.
- Farming Support: Plant crops while keeping a tool in your main hand.
- Projectile Support: Use eggs, snowballs, wind charges, ender pearls, XP bottles, and fireworks.
- Main-Hand Priority: Tools remain usable for mining, tilling, stripping logs, and other actions.
How to Use
- Hold a normal vanilla item in your main hand.
- Quickly crouch twice to move it into your offhand.
- Double crouch again to swap it back.
- Keep your main hand empty or hold a tool, then press the use button to use the offhand item.
- Sneak while interacting when you need to prioritize the offhand item.
Installation
- Download the
.mcpack file.
- Open it with Minecraft and wait for the import to finish.
- Create a new world or edit an existing world.
- Open Behavior Packs → My Packs.
- Select Offhand Freedom and press Activate.
- Remove older test versions to prevent conflicts.
- Enter the world and double crouch while holding an item.
No custom items, textures, or crafting recipes are required.
Showcase
Known Limitations
- Food cannot currently be eaten directly from the offhand.
- Some enchanted, named, durable, or data-containing items may have limited support.
- Some directional, technical, or two-block items may not place correctly.
- Functionality may vary between game versions, devices, and multiplayer servers.
This project is experimental and will continue receiving compatibility, stability, and item-support improvements.
