IT LEARNS
A horror add-on that studies you, and gets worse the longer you play.
It watches how you react. It remembers what makes you freeze. Then it does that again.
👁️ What makes it different
Most horror add-ons throw the same scares at everyone. It Learns builds a fear profile of you.
Every scare is a test. After each one, it watches what you do:
- Did you freeze, and for how long?
- Did you spin your camera around?
- Did you run?
- Did you stop mining?
- Did you swing at it?
It scores each reaction, remembers which scares work best in caves, at night and during the day, and learns which side you’re slowest to check. Scares you get used to get used less. The ones that work on you come back. And if nothing is working, it pushes harder.
Open Something’s Journal to see exactly what it has learned about you.
🩸 The three entities
The Vigil. Tall, thin and pale-faced, with hollow eyes and a grin that’s too wide. It stands at the edge of your vision, moves only when you aren’t looking, and freezes the moment you turn around.
The Vacant. Its head is covered in eyes that all look in different directions. It crawls like a spider, digs up through your floor, and smashes through your windows.
Static. A figure made of living TV static. It flickers in and out at the corner of your eye, glitches across the ground on all fours, and sometimes there are twenty of it.
🗣️ It talks to you
Use the journal to speak to it. It answers based on what it knows: things you’ve said before, how long you froze, which scare you hate most. Its words can appear in chat, float above its head, or both.
It also knows things about the real you, read straight from the game:
- your device type (PC, phone or console)
- your controller, keyboard or touchscreen
- your render distance and memory
- your world’s lag spikes
- how long you’ve been playing
- where your bed is and where you last died
🚪 What it does
Sounds: footsteps behind you, whispers, knocking, breathing on your neck, someone else mining, a whistle from the treeline, animals that sound wrong, a creeper hiss that never explodes.
Your world:
- torches go out
- doors open on their own
- signs appear with messages written for you
- the sky flickers between day and night
Encounters:
- something hanging upside down in the trees
- something climbing a wall, head turned all the way round to watch you
- a figure that only gets closer when you look away
- something staring through your window, your fence, or a crack in your wall
Late-game events (unlock as you play):
- Door creep: it knocks, slowly pushes your door open, and leans around the frame
- Window break-in: it smashes through the glass and climbs in, with a different animation for small and large windows
- Tunnelling: you hear digging under your floor getting closer, until it breaks through
- The Swarm: twenty of it blinking in and out while the sky strobes
- Sleep paralysis: you wake up unable to move, and something is bent over your bed
- Someone Was Here: you come home to open doors, missing torches, a note by your bed, and something inside
- Lights Out: every light around you dies one by one, the darkness walking toward you
- The Mirror: something across the field copies everything you do, until it stops
- False Crash: “Connection Lost”... and when the screen comes back, it’s in front of you
Hunts: in the late game it hunts you. It breaks glass, doors, trapdoors and cobwebs, swims through water and lava, climbs ladders, scales walls of any height, and squeezes through 1-block gaps. If it kills you, you get a full-screen jumpscare.
You can’t sleep while something is watching you, and if you go 3 days without sleeping, it gets worse.
🌫️ Atmosphere
- Darker world textures: every block is darker, colder and drained of colour, while ores stay visible.
- Fog that reacts : warm by day, cold at night and underground, thickening into dread as it closes in, and blood-red while you’re being hunted.
🛠️ Bonus utilities
- Vein Miner: break one ore with a pickaxe and the whole vein comes with it.
- Tree Capitator: chop a natural tree’s log with an axe and the whole tree falls. Your log house is safe.
- Dynamic Lights: held torches, lanterns and other light items glow.
- Sneak to break a single block normally.
