# Inventory Totem 2.0 — Inventory Rescue Rework
A complete rework of the original offhand-swapping version.
## Changed
- Totems now activate directly from your inventory. Your shield and other offhand
items are no longer moved, temporarily replaced or restored after danger passes.
- Replaced fall prediction, nearby-explosive scans and low-health thresholds with
a lethal-damage check. Protection no longer depends on predicting a threat or
whether you are sneaking.
- Removed the need for a spare inventory slot to store a displaced offhand item.
- Added a dedicated rescue sequence: consume one totem, restore one red heart,
clear existing effects and grant regeneration, fire resistance and absorption.
- Replaced native activation through an equipped totem with custom inventory
activation visuals, including a screen animation, particles and sound.
- Added the accompanying resource pack and combined `.mcaddon` installer.
## Reliability
- Tracks one selected totem as it moves through your inventory, then selects the
next available totem after use.
- Handles zero and negative health readings during lethal damage processing.
- Uses engine-processed damage without applying armor or enchantment reductions twice.
- Prevents overlapping rescue transactions from consuming multiple totems for the
same pending rescue, with a bounded window for suppressing additional hits.
- Clears old transactions on death, respawn and disconnect.
- Leaves actual hand-held totems to vanilla Minecraft to avoid a second inventory charge.
- If a reserved totem disappears before consumption, resolves the lethal outcome
without replaying damage or charging another totem. Attacker attribution is not
guaranteed on this exceptional path.
## Requirements and achievements
- Requires Bedrock **26.10+** (manifest engine 1.26.10), stable Script API **2.6.0**
and both included packs. The original backup targeted engine 1.21.90 and API 2.0.0;
old 1.21.x support has been dropped.
- Built with an achievement-friendly design: stable APIs, no required cheats,
commands or experiments, and no changes to world eligibility settings. Use a
Survival world with cheats and experiments off.
## Validation
26 automated gameplay tests pass. Previous gameplay testing covered repeated
rescues, armor/enchantment changes, drowning, explosions and absorption. The exact
Minecraft build used for those tests was not recorded; **26.10 is the minimum target,
not a claimed tested build**. Release cleanup and the missing-reservation path have
automated coverage but have not yet received a new in-game verification pass.
