Horrors Beyond the Void
Pure horror for Minecraft Bedrock: grotesque creatures with their own 3D models and animations, two giant bosses, and drops you can forge into the strongest gear in the game. Several creatures need a strategy, not just a sword.
Every creature has its own model, animations and texture. Every item explains itself in its description once it is in your inventory. No experiments needed.
Creatures
- The Unhinged (20 HP): a hunched humanoid with dislocated limbs. It spawns in the dark, in the Overworld and in caves, and in groups. 40% of its hits infect you (Void Infection: Hunger II and Weakness for 10 seconds). Drops Infected Flesh and Dry Bone Fragments.
- Hollow Eyes (6 HP): a floating faceless corpse with an empty socket that smokes. It spawns in the dark in the Overworld. When it dies it bursts into a cloud of smoke that blinds everything within 5 blocks for 4 seconds. Drops Spectral Dust.
- Tree Canopy Stalker (40 HP): a tall skeletal creature with long arms and mossy bark. Its claws block every blow from the front. Hit it from behind, or use a Magnesium Torch on it to stun it for 5 seconds. Drops Shadow Tree Claws.
- Mud Crawler (45 HP): a mass of mud and viscera with eye stalks and a toothy maw. Ordinary weapons only do a quarter of their damage, and swimmers close to it take drowning damage. Use Purifying Salt on it to dissolve it at once. Drops Thick Slime Cores.
- Blizzard Mimic (30 HP): a pale, frozen spectre whose head turns all the way around. Drops Cursed Frost.
- Basalt Maw (120 HP): a jaw of molten basalt. Its gravity field pulls players within 10 blocks towards it and scorches those who get close. Its shell shrugs off most blows (40% damage), but explosions hit it for 250%: bring TNT. Drops Molten Basalt Plates.
- Null Stalker (80 HP): a glitching figure of floating shards. Drops a Void Singularity.
- The Torment Mother (boss, 300 HP): a giant matriarch spider with agonizing faces on her abdomen. Drops the Matriarch's Heart.
- The Flesh Monolith (boss, 400 HP): a 15-block pillar of flesh covered in trapped faces, limbs and stuck swords. Drops Primordial Flesh Essence.
The Unhinged and Hollow Eyes spawn on their own. The other creatures are placed with their spawn eggs, and every creature has its own egg.
Sounds
Every creature has its own voice (ambient, hurt and death), and the special mechanics have their own sounds: the stun flash, the dissolving crawler, the smoke burst, Void Infection, the claws blocking, the Maw's gravity, the glitch dash and the armor's rescue. The bosses can be heard from far away.
Blocks and structure
- Flesh Stone: an organic decorative block.
- Dread Flame: a decorative block that glows with an eerie light.
- Flesh Ruins: a small ruin of Flesh Stone with a chest of Spectral Dust.
Food
- Infected Flesh: edible, but it gives Hunger II and Weakness I for 15 seconds.
Weapons
- Reaper Scythe (netherite tier): heals you with 30% of its damage and makes the lesser creatures around you run away. Forged from Matriarch's Hearts.
- Glitch Void Sword (netherite tier): use it on a creature in sight (up to 12 blocks) to blink behind it and strike through its armor. 3 second cooldown. Forged from Void Singularities.
Shadow Eater armor (netherite tier)
Made from Shadow Ingots.
- Helmet: night vision.
- Chestplate: when you drop to 3 hearts or less, you are restored to full health, enemies around you are frozen and weakened, and the chestplate recharges for 5 minutes.
- Full set: immunity to Blindness, Slowness and Poison.
Crafting
- Shadow Ingot (x4): Void Singularity + 2 Spectral Dust + Dry Bone Fragment.
- Reaper Scythe and Glitch Void Sword: the sword recipe with two Matriarch's Hearts or two Void Singularities and a stick.
- Flesh Stone (x4): 4 Infected Flesh and 4 Dry Bone Fragments in a checkerboard.
- Dread Flame: Primordial Flesh Essence + 2 Spectral Dust + Blaze Powder.
- Purifying Salt (x2): Dry Bone Fragment + Quartz.
- Magnesium Torch (x2): Glowstone Dust + Stick.
Differences with the Java edition
Bedrock's scripting cannot cancel a blow before it lands: the Chestplate rescues you when you are low instead of at the lethal blow, and the Canopy Stalker, the Mud Crawler and the Basalt Maw undo part of the damage right after it. It has no glowing effect (no echolocation on the helmet) and no air supply control (the Mud Crawler deals drowning damage instead).
Not in this version
The Blizzard Mimic's fog and illusions, the Null Stalker's gaze effects, the abilities and phases of the two bosses, the Hollow Realm dimension and flying in it are planned for later versions. The smoke of Hollow Eyes, the Mimic's turning head, the Null Stalker's glitch and the Maw's jaw are animations.
