Description
Today I am bringing you a massive update to one of my most requested projects. Let us be honest, vanilla Minecraft combat can feel a bit boring and empty sometimes. You hit a zombie with a sword, it takes some damage, and that is pretty much it. There is no real satisfaction or feedback. I play a lot of competitive games and modern shooters, and I realized they all have one thing in common which makes combat feel amazing, and that is hit markers and kill sounds. So I sat down and completely rewrote my old project to bring you Hit Ping version 2.0. And the best part is, I unlocked all the premium features for everyone. There are no keys or hidden paywalls anymore.
How The Combat System Works
I basically overhauled the entire combat feedback system using custom scripts. Now, every single time you land a hit on a mob or another player, you will hear a satisfying sound cue. But I took it a step further. The script actually calculates your velocity and jump height to detect true critical hits. If you land a crit, you get a completely different, much punchier sound effect to let you know you dealt maximum damage. I also added a live damage indicator. Whenever you deal damage, the exact number will pop up right above your hotbar, so you know exactly how much health you are taking away from your enemies.
Combos and Kill Streaks
If you love jumping into a huge crowd of monsters, you are going to love the new combo and streak system. If you keep landing hits without waiting too long between swings, you will start building a combo multiplier. It goes from five times all the way up to thirty times, which triggers a massive Godlike combo message on your screen. And if you actually manage to kill multiple mobs within a few seconds of each other, the kill streak system kicks in. You will see Double Kill, Triple Kill, and Rampage announcements pop up on your screen along with special level up sounds. If you get a really high streak, it even broadcasts it to the entire server so your friends know you are dominating the area.
Combat Titles and Stats
To give you a reason to keep grinding and fighting, I introduced a full ranking system based on your total lifetime kills. You start off as a Rookie, but as you hit milestones like fifty, five hundred, or five thousand kills, your rank upgrades automatically. You can go from Warrior to God of War, and eventually reach the final Demon rank at ten thousand kills.
You can check your rank and all your combat stats anytime. Just hold a regular Book in your hand, sneak, and a full UI menu will open up showing your total hits, critical hit accuracy, average damage per hit, and your best combos.
Customization and Controls
I know everyone has different tastes, so I made sure everything is fully customizable. If you hold a Name Tag and sneak, it opens the settings menu. From there, you can choose between three different sound themes. There is the Classic theme, an Arcade theme, and a Heavy theme for deep, bass boosted combat sounds. You can also turn off specific things like damage numbers or streak titles if you want a cleaner screen.
And if you ever need to turn the whole add-on off quickly while building or relaxing, just hold an Arrow and sneak to toggle it off instantly.
Beta APIs Setup
Because this add-on heavily relies on checking entity velocity for critical hits and uses custom action bar displays to show your damage, you absolutely have to enable the Beta APIs experiment in your world. Before you load your survival world, go to the settings, scroll to the experiments section, and toggle Beta APIs on. If you forget to do this, none of the menus will open and the custom sounds will simply not play.
