Description

DyingCraft is a Minecraft: Bedrock Edition addon situated in a zombie apocalypse. A virus broke out and now the entire world is filled to the brim with infected. During the day you will encounter various infected, but with some good protection the threats during daylight pose a minor inconvenience. But during the night... chaos. When there is no light, restless predatory infected known as Nighthunters roam freely. When you are spotted... run. Protect villages from being infected, build shelter, be stealthy at night and, at all costs... Don't look back.
The Villagers are counting on you.

To use this addon, please turn on 'Upcoming Creator Features' and 'Beta APIs' in the Experiments section.

This page is about DyingCraft for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The version for Minecraft: Java Edition is in development and is not planned to release anytime soon.

DyingCraft contains many infected mobs, ranging from slow zombie-like mobs, to relentless hunters made to ruin your day (or night...). I could list every mob here, but that would ruin the surprise. The most important mob-types and all items are listed here:

Mobs (most important):

-Biters: Slow zombie-like mobs and the main enemy you will encounter during daylight. These are infected that have rotten for so long they can barely stand upright. Alone they are easy to defeat, but in groups they can be very dangerous.

-Virals: Fast infected that recently turned. They will sprint at their target at full speed and deal a lot of damage. But don't be fooled, because they have don't have much health, making them a dangerous enemy when not paying attention, but easy to defeat.

-Goon: Slow big infected with a hammer, who were construction workers before the infection. They will walk towards their target and smash their hammer on the ground, dealing area damage to every non-infected mob.

-Spitter: An infected with an open slimy chest, who were ambulance workers before the infection. They will spit poisonous slime at their target.

-Nighthunter: Fast relentless infected that will only come out at night. During the day they live in their underground hives. At night they will patrol the area scavenging for food. When they spot their prey, they will stop at nothing to hunt it down. For your information, 'prey' includes players. You may be asking, why do they only come out at night? Well, that is because of their extreme weakness to UV light. During the day, any Nighthunters that are still outside will burn to death. As expected, you can use their weakness against them, I will further explain the UV system later.

-Sunshy Villagers: Villagers that have been infected by Nighthunters. Nighthunters will attack villagers and knock them out. During this, virals will pull them apart and trap them in a flesh pool, which will slowly mutate them into a Villager Nighthunter: A Sunshy Villager. Sunshy Villagers behave similarly to nighthunters, except they have more health, have knockback resistance and can spit at you from a distance.

-Screamers: Baby villagers that have been infected. Due to their fight-response being underdeveloped, they instead scream at their target and alert every single infected nearby. They don't have a lot of health, so if you are trying to stay unnoticed it's best to kill them from a distance.

-Gastank Virals: Villager Virals with a Hazmat suit and a Gas tank on their back. They worked in Nuclear Power Plants and tried to clean up the mess the virus has caused. Once hit, their gas tank will open and send them flying before exploding. Gastank Virals that are lit on fire will have a bigger and more destructive explosion.

-Wraith: a special type of Nighthunter, mutated to withstand UV light and have the ability to go invisible and teleport. Wraith is a boss you should think carefully about before fighting. It has no mercy and won't hold back when attacking you. But when you kill it, the reward is amazing.

Items:

-Injecting Needles:

Injecting Needles can be used to temporarily boost your stats. You can inject yourself with various blood samples obtained from defeating advanced infected. Here are the crafting recipes:

When you obtain a blood sample, you can craft a filled needle like this:

Here's how to obtain each blood sample:

-Weak blood sample: Small chance of dropping from Goons, higher chance of dropping from Sunshy Villagers.

-Strong blood sample: High chance of dropping from Nightstalkers, guaranteed to drop from Wraith.

-Very strong blood sample: Small chance of dropping from Wraith instead of a strong sample.

The stronger the sample, the better the buffs you will get.

-Flashlights:

Flashlights are an item that can be held in your main or offhand and will emit light around you. You craft it like this:

There are also special UV Flashlights that will also emit light, but also damage nearby enemies that are weak to UV light! This makes UV Flashlights a must-have during the night. To craft an UV Flashlight, you will need an UV Light Bulb. These can be found in various structures, like Desert Temples for example.

You can also change the light bulb of your flashlight like this:

-Machete:

Machetes are a new weapon, they are basically just swords and sit between Copper and Iron Swords. They can be enchanted like a sword and are crafted like this:

-UV Lamp (Block):

UV Lamps are new blocks that emit UV light when turned on. You can arm your base and villages with UV Lamps to keep Nighthunters at bay. But Nighthunters aren't the only mobs that avoid UV Lamps. Virals and other mobs will also avoid UV lamps, even though they aren't weak to it. When you are being chased, UV lamps are your safe spot!

Structures:

DyingCraft also adds some new structures! These will naturally generate in the Overworld, Nether and End.

-Nighthunter Hives:

Overworld Hives: Nighthunter Hives will generate underground and have 3 variations, ranging from big to smaller. Each nighthunter hive comes with special blocks that can spawn Nighthunters and one Developing Nighthunter each. You can use an empty injecting needle to extract a strong blood sample from the Developing Nighthunter, just don't alert the Nighthunters...

Netherstalker Hives: Netherstalker Hives generate underground in Crimson Forests in the Nether. Inside, Netherstalkers and one Developing Netherstalker will spawn. The Developing Netherstalkers can be used to obtain a strong blood sample aswell.

Endhunter Nests: Endhunter Nests generate above ground in The End. They can be identified by their tall obsidian pillars. It will spawn Endhunters and 2 Developing Endhunters. A strong blood sample can be obtained from the Developing Endhunters.

WARNING: the Spawner Blocks rely on random ticks, so bumping up your random tick speed will cause Nighthunter Hives to flood with Nighthunters, which will cause a lot of lag.

-Nighthunter Caves:

Nighthunter caves are round arches of stone you will find on the surface. Each Nighthunter Cave will have a Developing Nighthunter inside. If you want a strong blood sample, it's best to do this during the day, since during the night all nighthunters nearby will be alerted if you touch their developing companions. Nighthunter Caves have lush and dripstone variations.

-Sewers:

Sewers are structures that will generate underground. They contain water pipes and are infested with Nighthunters. Inside, there is also a barrel with some good loot.

-Hunting Towers:

Hunting Towers generate in plains. They have a chest with some basic loot, a bed, a crafting table and an UV Lamp! Hunting Towers can be crucial escapes during a chase (Just don't forget to turn on the UV Lamp).

-Campsite:

Campsites are small structures you will find in plains. They contain unlit campfires and a barrel with some basic loot.

Other Changes:

-Zombies, skeletons and creepers now rarely spawn on the surface and mostly only spawn underground.

-The Overworld now has yellowish fog, giving the world a true infection theme.

When adding the resource pack in global resources, you get:

-A custom DyingCraft title

-A custom Panorama

-Custom loading screen messages, giving tips about the addon

-Custom splashes

How long will you survive? Enjoy the addon!
