Dustbound Outlaws | Frontier Gunslingers

Bring dangerous frontier encounters, mounted ambushes, and six-shot gunfights to Minecraft Bedrock survival.

Dustbound Outlaws adds roaming gunslingers to the Overworld. Ordinary Outlaws appear alone or in pairs, while the rarer Deadeye has more health, longer reach, and a faster firing rhythm. Some enemies arrive on horseback and keep shooting while their mount moves.

Defeat them for cartridges and a chance to recover frontier equipment, or craft your own revolver and outfit. Both players and outlaws fire six rounds before reloading, creating a clear opening to attack or find cover.

How to use

Import the .mcaddon, enable the Dustbound Outlaws behavior pack on your world, and make sure its linked resource pack is active. Play on Easy difficulty or higher for ordinary Outlaws; Deadeyes begin appearing on Normal difficulty.

Outlaws are most common in deserts, savannas, and badlands, but uncommon encounters can occur across most Overworld surface biomes. They do not naturally spawn in oceans, caves, mushroom islands, the Nether, or the End.

Hold the Frontier Revolver and press the use button to fire. Release the button before firing the next shot. After six shots, use the empty revolver again to reload it. A reload consumes exactly six Cartridges, so carry at least one full cylinder of ammunition.

Wear all four Frontier Outfit pieces at the same time to activate Quick Draw. The bonus remains active while riding and also slightly increases the speed of your mount.

Crafting

• Frontier Revolver: 3 Iron Ingots, 1 Copper Ingot, 1 Redstone Dust, and 1 Stick
• 6 Cartridges: 1 Copper Ingot, 1 Iron Nugget, and 1 Gunpowder
• Frontier Hat: 5 Leather and 1 Brown Dye
• Duster Coat: 7 Leather and 1 Brown Dye
• Frontier Trousers: 7 Leather and 1 Brown Dye
• Riding Boots: 4 Leather and 2 Iron Nuggets

All recipes are made at a crafting table and unlock through normal Survival progression.

Rewards

• Ordinary Outlaws always drop 1–4 Cartridges and can rarely drop their revolver or one outfit piece.
• Deadeyes always drop 6–12 Cartridges and a glowing Deadeye Badge, with improved chances for equipment.
• The Deadeye Badge is a trophy item in version 1.0.0 and has no crafting use yet.
• Enemies defeated by a player also award experience.

Notes

The revolver's durability bar represents rounds remaining in the cylinder. The weapon does not lose structural durability and cannot break from firing.

The Frontier Outfit can be enchanted and repaired with Leather. Its total protection sits between leather and iron armor, with utility bonuses focused on reloading and mounted travel instead of extra damage.

Dustbound Outlaws was created for CurseForge ModJam 2026: Echoes of the Past. Its fictional enemies and visual language are inspired by broad nineteenth-century frontier imagery rather than a real historical faction or conflict.
