Dugie's: Savanna

Adds a fresh coat of paint to the savanna!

Dugie's Savanna is a full overhaul of one of Minecraft's most overlooked biomes — rebuilt from the ground up with a real material identity.

Big n' Chonky!

The baobab is the heart of this pack — two full-size variants towering over the grassland, each one grown from 4 baobab saplings. Baobab trees can bear fruit too! Knock a ripe fruit down with an arrow, snowball, egg or really anything if you're feeling impatient. I recommend using the special block that we'll talk about later to get up to the fruits. The wood itself comes as a complete, vanilla-parity set: planks, stairs, slabs, fences, doors, trapdoors, signs — even its own boat and chest boat, fully seaworthy.

What's Surfacing?

Two new stone-and-earth families run through the terrain — Strata, a layered rock that surfaces as boulders and jagged peaks, and Clay Loam, a warmer, reddish ground type with its own grassy variant, its own dirt paths, and a vein of iron ore running through it that even a shovel can dig out. Both come as full building sets: bricks, polished forms, stairs, slabs, walls. Dense Dirt also occasionally generates in the biome mixed within the casual grass terrain.

You may find Rocky Dirt in sparse patches throughout the biome:

These can be sifted through scaffolding to yield cobblestone.

Ooo a Cave!

Beneath the Savanna is a new Cave biome called Strata Caves. Featuring Strata and Strata Spikes!

Daddy long-neck?

The Ostrich is a new neutral mob that can be found in the savanna biome. It's quite fast and is very protective over it's children which makes them quite aggressive if a foreign creature such as the player goes near them without their consent—kicking you back everytime you think about getting close.

Though they can be fed; feed an adult ostrich enough seeds and it begins to trust you; so much it allows being ridden.

As you're riding it you may realize that it gets tired often, this is because real ostriches are not built for riding. But this is Minecraft; we never obeyed laws here.

Oh and they lay eggs, big ones too!

Zombrich, Ostrie!

At night a zombie can be seen carrying a spear while riding a zombified ostrich husk. Be careful as they aid the zombie in speed meaning a whole new form of trouble.

Shingles and Bulwark

Sixteen full shingle sets — every dye color, every one with its own stairs and slabs.

Not only shingles can be made from armadillo scutes, you can also make Bulwark!

While shingles main use is for building Bulwark is a bit different. Bulwark is a hard shell block that tanks explosion, fire and projectile damage-in return for durability usage. A Bulwark has 64 durability and after every 64 durability usage it starts to crack. If it fully cracks 3 times it will break fully.

Though you can repair it before it does so by picking it up and using armadillo scutes to repair it's stages. Bulwark can be dyed and used in redstone as a replacement for obsidian, just being moveable.

Did they Stay here?

Scattered through the grassland: ruined stays, full camps built from clusters of them, and — if you're lucky enough to find one — a baobab tree that grew up wrapped around an old campsite, vines and rope still holding. Every one of them has various amounts of loot, some better than others.

Dry as Thatch.

Thatch is a new roofing block that would fit well in your next build. Made from haybales and wheat while standing as the primary ingredient for our next block.

It's stretched Taut!

A new Mechanical Block called a Taut can be used as a Trampoline in your world. Useful for making your way up to those high hanging baobab fruits. It also has a redstone variant that emmits a signal whenever an entity bounces on it.

Crafted with Leather, Loose Thatch and string:

Crafted with Leather, Loose Thatch, String and Redstone:

Tauts won't stay perfect forever as they will wear down after a number of uses.

A Taut will wear out after every 64 uses.

Bounce Heights are:

• Fresh = 12 Blocks

• Slightly Worn = 8 Blocks

• Very Worn = 6 Blocks

To repair a Taut you can either break the block and place it in a grid alongside leather to regain a fully repaired Taut or you can right-click (interact), with a Taut holding leather to repair it that way.

Tauts are not stackable.

Players, Mobs and Items can all bounce on Tauts.

Disclaimer: This add-on requires Beta APIs and Upcoming Creator Feature Toggles enabled to work properly!
